Whether or not Bryan Singer or Brandon Routh would be involved in the next installment of SUPERMAN movie is a big question mark. At one point, the rumor said they might, while but then those rumors got debunked, some info said that they’ll return and then we heard WB studio might consider some other names instead. Big uncertainty is still clouding the project when it comes to those two names but one thing for sure is that the great Kevin Spacey has always wanted to reprise his role as the villain Lex Luthor again and he’s actually set to do the gig the second time around.
Spacey spoke to British website independent.co.uk about his recent projects and the Superman topic briefly became part of the discussion…
That may not go down so well with the producers of the follow-up to Superman Returns, who will be paying him big bucks to reprise his role as Lex Luthor next year. “Well, look. If I’m not producing, then I’m an actor for hire. It ends there. That doesn’t mean you’re not working with a director and other actors and a writer to make the best movie you can, but it’s a temporal experience, you’ll be together for a couple of weeks or months and then you’re done.”
If that website tells the truth, then the next SUPERMAN movie will start shooting in 2009
It is no secret that Kevin Spacey is a big fan of Bryan Singer who also directed him in The Usual Suspect, so if WB ends up not hiring Singer again, is there a possibility that Spacey might walk out of the project completely?
If only the website had asked him what he thinks about WB’s aim to make the next Supeman movie to have a ‘darker’ tone… I’d like to know his opinion on that subject.
It’s been mentioned a thousand times not just by me but by many Superman fans out there that… some of us wants to see Superman fight a more worthy foe than Luthor who is obviously all human.
The only thing that would make it interesting is if Lex Luthor somehow, in the next movie, attain superpowers,.. which is unlikely because the characters is most famously known for his scheming genius mind.

[...] year, however, it was said that Kevin Spacey has signed on to do the sequel and was ready to get bald again to play Lex Luthor. Maybe he has a huge crush on director Bryan [...]
