This evening has gotten KICK-ASS! Lionsgate did test screenings last week which I didn’t go to and with that they’ve unleashed the first teaser for the adaptation of Mark Millar graphic novel, via the official website. I think Hit Girl is going to steal the show. So you wanna play?! What do you think of Nicolas Cage as Big Daddy? Check out the teaser after this jump…
“Kick-Ass” tells the story of average teenager Dave Lizewski (Johnson), a comic-book fanboy who decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero. As any good superhero would, he chooses a new name — Kick-Ass — assembles a suit and mask to wear, and gets to work fighting crime. There’s only one problem standing in his way: Kick-Ass has absolutely no superpowers.
His life is forever changed as he inspires a subculture of copy cats, is hunted by assorted violent and unpleasant characters, and meets up with a pair of crazed vigilantes, including an 11-year-old sword-wielding dynamo, Hit Girl (Moretz) and her father, Big Daddy (Cage).
KICK-ASS opens April 16th, 2010
I just watched the teasers for Kick Ass and Clash of the Titans back to back and they are at opposite poles from eachother. Clash of the Titans crammed way too much in, pretty much barfing out as much of the movie as it could in a short period of time. Exciting, but crowded. Kick Ass on the other hand, didn’t tease nearly enough. Based on the video I saw from Comicon, I figured they’d have a little bit more to share – but I guess they blew most of the time dealing with the Flacon wannabe at the start of it. It was funny, but not really satisfying.
Hehe, this’ll probably be Nic Cage’s best character since 2002.
This trailer, naturally, doesn’t contain any of the badassery, or should I say kickassery, of the clip showed at Comic Con, which was absolutely mental. I know they have to water it down to advertise it, but I can see this trailer turning some people off. We’ll see. All I know is that I’ll be there in that theater!
you have a point there, Steve, CLASH OF THE TITANS teaser pretty much just wants to wow you for now, no other agenda but that, like a freight train in your face.
KICK-ASS teaser indeed doesn’t show as much as the ones previewed at Comic-Con but it’s a good start.
I have complete faith in Matthew Vaughn’s ability to deliver a great movie – he has yet to let me down with Layer Cake and Stardust. Nic Cage’s presence is cause for concern, but so long as he’s not front & centre, this could work.
Agreed…
STARDUST was an under-appreciated fantasy/adventure movie in 2007
