EW has this first look image of PASSION PLAY which is Mitch Glazer’s directorial debut, starring Megan Fox and Mickey Rourke. The photo came with an interview with Rourke who shocked me because he said and I kid you not, he said that Fox is the best young actress he’s ever worked with. I think all that physical hit to the head during the filming of The Wrestler has impaired Rourke’s judgment…
I didn’t know too much about her, except what I read. And I think the pleasant surprise was this girl who’s a world-class beauty turned out to be probably the best young actress I’ve ever worked with. I don’t know if a lot of her films have showcased her acting ability more than, say, being action-oriented, but she really stepped up the plate with this one and was very consistent and professional, beyond her years. At 23, I couldn’t do half of what she’s doing.
Did Fox hire a better acting coach and improve her acting skills so much so that it impressed an Oscar nominee? That statement by Rourke is quite interesting.. maybe she is a better actress than we give her credit for… nah.. can’t be.
Rourke also went on to say about Fox’s character, that she “has wings, so she was sort of an oddity trapped in a carnival act. She’s been a prisoner her whole life, and she has no understanding of trust. She’s very vulnerable and delicate.”
Vulnerable and delicate.. not the two words media would use to describe the real Megan Fox, at least not that I’ve heard.
Megan Fox will play an angel in 1950s Los Angeles described as “a slender beauty with wings who is part of a carnival”. Mickey Rourke plays a down-on-his-luck trumpet player who finds redemption in Fox after he attempts to save her from a mobster named Happy Shannon played by Bill Murray.
