Way Back

Peter Weir is back (Dead Poets Society, The Truman Show, Master And Commander) with THE WAY BACK, he’s one of those who surfaces once in a while but when his movies do come out, they tend to leave a mark of great achievement. This next one is a rugged escape saga, a fact-based story centered on soldiers who escaped from a Siberian gulag in 1940. QuietEarth got its hands on some first look images. The movie stars Colin Farrell, Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess, Mark Strong and Saoirse Ronan. View all images after the jump…

When you ask me what’s my favorite movie of all time, both my mind and heart tell me it’s “The Truman Show”. It’s one of the only titles that pop up in my head when I’m searching for ‘the perfect movie’, it has no flaws. There’s absolutely nothing negative to say about it. Even if I wanted to. Clever, ahead of his time, funny, perfectly balanced, touching, very well written, great acting, it pushes all the right buttons.

I’m not saying Peter Weir is the best in town, but the guy has a new movie, I’m there. Master And Commander was underrated, btw. People complaind about the lack of entertainment, but I thought it was something unique. “Life as it is” (or was).

MASTER AND COMMANDER was a great movie…

I think it just unfortunately came out in the same year as Pirates of the Caribbean… so some people who already seen Jack Sparrow in the summer were expecting MASTER AND COMMANDER to be the same type of film but it wasn’t…

MASTER AND COMMANDER was a big budget movie that didn’t get the box office money it deserved..
