Empire has scored another first look image, this time it’s from Peter Jackson‘s upcoming movie adaptation THE LOVELY BONES based on the book by Alice Sebold. As you can see it’s young actress Saoirse Ronan (Atonement), we can’t really see her face in that image but she plays the character Susan, a 14 year old raped and murdered by her own neighbor. The movie will tell the story from her point of view as she watches from heaven. Her family deals with her death and her murderer tries to hide the evidence. Sounds like a disturbing, dark, emotional film.
Mark Wahlberg (who replaced Ryan Gosling due to creative differences) plays Susie’s father, Rachel Weisz her mother, Stanley Tucci the neighbour and Susan Sarandon the family’s grandmother. THE LOVELY BONES hits theaters this fall in time for Oscar worthy movies season and one week before James Cameron’s AVATAR
