Who’s the director of the new CONAN Movie? Is he really that hard to find? I’m sure there’s lots of names out there who can make a strong violent R-rated barbaric movie where the hero is obvious and the villain is obvious and the only thing worth watching is the clash between the two.
Last info from CHUD, director James McTeigue might be considered to take on the project after Brett Ratner got ditched.
But CHUD now is reporting that 3 other names have come up on the list of possible candidates. …
- Christophe Gans: The director of The Brotherhood of the Wolf and Silent Hill, 2 movies that for all intents and purposes were not impressive in my opinion.
- Marcus Nispel: The director of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake and Friday the 13th Remake.. so he’s fit for this CONAN reboot, right? Maybe, as much as I think Nispel is just a mediocre like Ratner, I did enjoy’s Nispel’s viking movie, Pathfinder which probably qualifies him for this particular genre and story.
- Neil Marshall: The director of The Descent and Doomsday. Now we’re talkin! I once said that Patrick Tatopoulos (Underworld: Rise of the Lycans) would be perfect for the job but Marshall would a be a great second choice considering he knows a thing or two about making it look like a bloody battle just went down in the most epic manner but since Marshall is still working on the post-production of his new movie CENTURION, we won’t hear him or anyone of these names tackling CONAN anytime soon.
UPDATE: Latinoreview also reported that director Phil Joanou (Gridiron Gang) is Lionsgate’s top choice to direct CONAN, I guess all we’re waiting now is any type of confirmation to hit the web
