Marc Webb Or Bennett Miller For MONEYBALL?

Marc Webb, Bennett Miller

How are we doing on time? Good? Ok, real quick now. It’s been a while since Steven Soderbergh left MONEYBALL over heated disagreements with Sony and it’s been a while since Aaron Sorkin went on board to rewrite the draft. After all that real life drama, turns out Brad Pitt is still attached to star. So the question remains, who will be the director?…

Hollywood Reporter says several directors have met with Pitt and the studio execs and/or producers and two names stand out, Marc Webb who brought us this year’s favorite indie 500 Days Of Summer and Bennett Miller who masterfully crafted Capote that gave Phillip Seymour Hoffman his first Oscar win. Miller is currently ahead of the race, possibly because Webb is already attached to 2 remakes, Jesus Christ Superstar and Just Another Love Story. According to The Playlist, Sorkin’s script is more of a comedy and at one point, Richard Linklater (School Of Rock) was offered the directing job but he said no.

I have an idea, they should make a movie about this tough process of trying to make a MONEYBALL movie

Here’s the official synopsis of the book MONEYBALL
“The Oakland Athletics have a secret: a winning baseball team is made, not bought. In major league baseball the biggest wallet is supposed to win: rich teams spend four times as much on talent as poor teams. But over the past four years, the Oakland Athletics, a major league team with a minor league payroll, have had one of the best records. Last year their superstar, Jason Giambi, went to the superrich Yankees. It hasn’t made any difference to Oakland: their fabulous season included an American League record for consecutive victories. Billy Beane, general manager of the Athletics, is putting into practice on the field revolutionary principles garnered from geek statisticians and college professors.”
