Mark Millar Defends WANTED 2 Writer

Last week, an info hit the web about Evan Spiliotopoulos who got hired to pen WANTED 2, the sequel to the movie adaptation last year starring James Mcavoy and Angelina Jolie who obviously won’t be returning for this sequel.
The problem is, Spiliotopoulos’ resume includes Pooh’s Heffalump Movie and its DVD Halloween spin-off. Usually we could give some unknown the benefit of the doubt, give him a chance to prove himself but he made Winnie The Pooh straight to DVD movies for pete’s sake so how on earth will he be able to tackle an R-rated action flick like WANTED 2?! At least that’s what’s on the mind of those of us who actually enjoyed Wanted.

But graphic novelist and producer of the sequel, Mark Millar recently defended the decision via his message board

“As a producer on the thing, I’m excited. I know who’s in it and after doing 342 million at the box office we have [serious] money to spend on everything from cast to crew to script.”

About Spiliotopoulos, he added that “This guy is supposed to be really good. He did a GREAT action script recently (on an unproduced movie) and that’s what got him this gig.”

Surely with money as serious as $342 Million they could’ve gone for a more established writer with extensive background in action genre. But I suppose as long as Mark Millar is involved in supervising the sequel to his creation, I think we’ll just have to wait and see what this Spiliotopoulos can bring to the table.
If any of you guys come across the so-called ‘great action script on an unproduced movie’ that Millar was talking about, do give me a holla… maybe through that we can judge if The Pooh writer is able to curve the bullet.
