Last November, comic book writer Mark Millar (Wanted, Kick-Ass) announced that he will be directing his own superhero movie but not by way of studio but by private independent financing. He recently talked to IGN and although he didn’t reveal the plot, he did say that it will be an “unusual superhero property”, shooting is expected to start this year in Scotland, and then they will make the movie travel through festival circuit after Christmas. I’m not too excited about the prospect of Millar’s directorial debut because the last time a comic book writer tried to direct a movie, the result was the disastrous Frank Miller’s The Spirit.
