Last summer, Steven Spielberg had a dream that one day, a biopic of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will arrive. MLK estate gave the permission to the great filmmaker Steven Spielberg and fellow producers Suzanne de Passe and Madison Jones to bring the story of the civil rights hero to the big screen. There have been countless TV movies about MLK over the years and many documentaries too. And now the project has a screenwriter…
Risky Business said Dreaworks studios has hired scribe Ronald Hardwood who penned The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and The Pianist, both were biopics, to write the Martin Luther King Jr. Biopic.
Harwood is actually a great choice, he was Oscar-nominated for those two movies.
This project did go through some bumpy roads because some of King children gave it a hard time but Harwood will “receive access to all the intellectual property King copyrighted during his lifetime, including speeches, books and other works.”
Spielberg is not attached to direct but he is producing with Suzanne de Passe and Madison Jones
Has Martin Luther King’s dream been realized? Have we really, fully reached equality?
