Marvel and Paramount sittin’ in a tree, K-I-S-S-I… actually, it’s more of… P-A-R-T-N-E-R-I-N-G
According to comingsoon.net, Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios today announced an agreement under which Paramount will distribute Marvel’s next five self-produced feature films on a worldwide basis. The deal includes theatrical distribution in foreign territories previously serviced by Marvel through local distribution entities (Japan, Germany, France, Spain and Australia/New Zealand). The distribution pact capitalizes on Marvel and Paramount’s successful efforts with Iron Man, which has grossed $574 million worldwide for Marvel.
Aww! How sweet, if I didn’t know any better it’s kinda like Marvel saying ‘I do’ and Paramount ‘I do’ too in front of the members of the press as their witness.
The five films they’re collaborating on, by the way, some of them now have new release dates, significant changes from the previous announcement.
So note this down and brand it into your memory so you can anticipate them with all your might as the time draws near.
Ready?
IRON MAN 2 opens May 7, 2010 instead of April 30th. Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. return for the sequel
THOR opens July 16, 2010 instead of June 10th. Kenneth Branagh is in talks to direct.
THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA opens May 6, 2011

And last but not least, the agreement also includes IRON MAN 3 which doesn’t have a release date scheduled yet.
