Marvel/Disney Merger Is Now Official!

Disney Marvel

Real quick now, quite possibly the biggest movie info that shook 2009 was when Disney planned to buy Marvel for about $4 billion, making Mouse HouseĀ  the owner of over 5000 Marvel’s characters. I hope none of those superheroes and villains would get literally kicked in the nuts and face by Mickey Mouse just like when he beat up one of the Jonas Brothers in South Park. Via comingsoon, it was announced yesterday that Marvel stockholders have approved the adoption of the Agreement and Plan of Merger entered into by Marvel and The Walt Disney Company, which provides for a merger in which Marvel will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Disney..

“The merger, which, based on the closing price of Disney’s common stock on December 30, 2009, has an estimated value of approximately $4.3 billion, was completed yesterday after the close of the market.
The completion of the merger is subject to satisfaction of remaining conditions disclosed in the definitive proxy statement/prospectus filed by Disney with the Securities and Exchange Commission pursuant to Rule 424 on December 2, 2009.”

10 years ago we would never have seen this coming.. hell back in mid and late 90s, comic book superhero movies were so awful, the thought of them making a comeback like what they did in the last decade was near impossible. Let’s see if PRINCE OF PERSIA could start a decade of a string of decent video game-based movies for once in our lifetime.
Disney owns Marvel,.. it’s gonna take some time to get used to that. I wonder what’s going to happen to the Marvel Island at Universal Orlando Theme Park.
