Go ahead and play every farewell song there is out there because one of the most successful documentary filmmakers ever is saying his final goodbye to the type of film that’s been good to him all these years. Whether you hate or love Michael Moore, you kinda have to admit, he’s like the Steven Spielberg of documentary, because before Spielberg, no one knew what summer blockbuster meant. Before Moore, documentary wasn’t considered a money-making mainstream business. Moore changed all that and got even fatter with box office hits like Fahrenheit 9/11 and Sicko.
But according to detnews, Moore’s upcoming doc CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY (watch the teaser) will be his final one

“While I’ve been making this film I’ve been thinking that maybe this will be my last documentary,”.. “Or maybe for a while.”
“I have been working on two screenplays over the last couple of years,”.. “One’s a comedy, one’s a mystery, and I really want to do this.”

His previous feature film was Canadian Bacon released in 1995 which was the late great John Candy’s last film.
It’s going to be awkward going to through the next few years not hearing any upcoming documentary by Michael Moore. We’ve gotten so used to wondering what issues Moore’s going to tackle next ever since the 1989 Roger & Me.
On the other hand, it’ll be refreshing to see what these.. comedy and msytery.. he’s been working on. We’re definitely going to keep a close eye on those two projects. What if he got us all punked and turns out he’s actually working on a documentary comedy and documentary mystery respectively.

CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY opens October 2nd, 2009
