My top three movies of all time are these The Godfather, Forrest Gump, and School of Rock
I could literally watch any of those movies over and over again. They’re just my favorite, especially SOR, great story, Jack Black’s best performance yet, and it rocks, man!
So I’m kinda feeling 50-50 when it comes to the idea of having a sequel to Jack Black’s teaching a whole class full of kids about what it means to Rock n’ Roll.
It’d be cool to see him reprise his role but at the same time, I know that it’s a recent movie, but it’s a classic, man! Some things ought to be left just the way it is, and School of Rock is already awesome.
I attended the screening for Kung Fu Panda, way before the movie hit the theaters. I asked Jack Black if SCHOOL OF ROCK 2 ever going to happen.
He said along the line that he wasn’t sure but he’s heard a draft has been made, he’d love to return to Rock again and that he’d only do the gig if director Richard Linklater would return to helm the project too.
Defamer caught Screenwriter Mike White who created the first movie speaking a bit about the sequel at a Los Angeles Film Festival panel. This is what he said…
“I actually just completed a draft of what’s potentially the sequel, and I’m still, like, crying as I’m writing the script,”
“I try to come at it from a personal place—”
“I literally just turned it in,”
“It’s a little too fresh off the boat for me to get into right now. And I don’t even know if it’s gonna be made.”
When he said he was crying as he was writing the script, I’m not quite sure if he was crying because of disagreeing with having a sequel despite the Studio’s demands, or that he was crying tears of joy because the studio promises him lots of cash that would not compare to any of his independent projects that he was promoting.
He couldn’t tell what the draft was about…
What could SCHOOL OF ROCK 2 be possibly about? Is it too soon to have that movie? keeping in mind that sequels don’t always come out as successful as the original ones.
