Real quick now, even though John C. Reilly hangs out with Will Ferrell and recently disappointed me in the crappy Vampire’s Assistant, trust me, do NOT watch that movie, but I still have respect for the Oscar nominated actor who in his next gig will be collaborating with the star of the biggest R-rated comedy of all time, Ed Helms (The Hangover). Variety says Sigourney Weaver (Avatar), Anne Heche (Spread) and Alia Shawkat (Whip It) have joined the cast of CEDAR RAPIDS for Fox Searchlight…
Directed by Miguel Arteta, written by Phil Johnston, it is an ensemble road-trip comedy about a wholesome and naive small-town Wisconsin man (Helms) who, when his role model dies, must represent his company at a regional insurance conference in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where his mind is blown by the big-town experience. He’s an insurance agent who goes to an industry convention to try and save the jobs of his colleagues.
Reilly plays a family man, who attends the conference and sees it as a vacation and time to let loose.
Weaver plays Helms’ former seventh-grade teacher
