So Regency Enterprises that owns the rights to the 2005 spy couple action flick Mr. And Mrs. Smith was thinking, ‘hmm… how can we make another movie but not have to pay Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt?, o that’s right, let’s make a reboot!’. Vulture reported, via Cinemablend, that MR. AND MRS. SMITH the reboot is happening, it’s actually more or less a prequel..
In the original movie, which brought Pitt and Jolie together both on screen and off screen, was about a married couple who had no idea that both were assassins assigned to kill each other. I thought it was an enjoyable flick, especially when their house got seriously damaged by a gunfight between the two that ended in an angry make up sex.
Now this reboot will be titled MR. AND MRS. JONES, I kid you not.
It’s an an origin story about a similar but differently named couple in their twentysomething, they’re both spies and are set up as a fake married couple when they graduate agency training.
Ehm.. paging Shia Labeouf and Megan Fox, anyone?
This project will be produced by Oscar-winning writer/producer Akiva Goldsman (Hancock, I Am Legend)

You jest right? A reboot??? The movie is 5 yrs old! A reboot?????? Wow.
I’d rather see a prequel of the two kicking butt and actually meeting for the first time down in Argentina or Chile or whatever South American country they were in. We see them meet, fall in love, have their affair, watch the proposal, and maybe even the marriage… the whole while neither suspecting the other of being a spy. Of course, both going off to secret missions doing their courting haha.
But a Mr and Mrs Smith WITHOUT Pitt and Jolie will just be a disaster. Stupid Hollywood.
