If there’s one person from the original A-TEAM that I think could still reprise his role, it’s Mr. T. If I were a filmmaker, I’d cast him in all my movies as random characters even for just one minute appearance, that’d be my hilarious signature mark. Let’s face it, UFC fighter/actor Rampage as B.A. is an ok casting choice but I doubt he can capture the irritated comical timing that Mr. T showed whenever he was angry at Murdock for tricking him into getting on an airplane. For those of you who are not familiar with my favorite series of the 80s, B.A. hated flying. But sadly, Mr. T told Latinoreview that unlike Dwight Schultz and Dirk Benedict, he won’t be doing cameo in THE A-TEAM movie, directed by Joe Carnahan...
He said it wasn’t about money, because he turned down the chance to appear in the film before that was even discussed. He said it just wouldn’t be right for him to be in it. If his B.A. isn’t the main guy, then why do it? What’s wrong with the film that they need him to make a cameo? Plus they would market the film with him being in it, and he didn’t want his friends and family to think he would have some big role when he wouldn’t. He told me he has nothing against the cast or even the fact that they’re doing a remake. But a cameo is just something he wasn’t interested in.
Mr. T is surprisingly wise, I pity the fool who thinks otherwise. By the way, don’t forget to check out Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs when you can, Mr. T got a great voice role in that animated movie.
Liam Neeson plays Hannibal Smith. Sharlto Copley as Murdock. Bradley Cooper as Face and Rampage as B.A. Baracus. Also starring Jessica Biel. Directed by Joe Carnahan. Produced by Ridley and Tony Scott, with screenplay written by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt (Wanted) THE A-TEAM opens June 11th, 2010
Why do you say he’s wise? What the hell has he done in the past twenty years? He should be thankful to be asked to be in some kind of limelight.
“He said it just wouldn’t be right for him to be in it. If his B.A. isn’t the main guy, then why do it?”. Sounds like he’s a little full of himself. If HIS B.A. isn’t the main guy? Is he serious? All this guy EVER did was frown and grunt. THAT and the 40 pounds of jewelry he wore is what made him famous. Check that… I take it back. Sylvester Stallone made him famous plain and simple. He just took Sly’s opportunity in ROCKY III and ran with it. Why the world was fascinated by a frowning, grunting, mohawked, black guy, I will never know. I pity the fool for thinking that he’s too big for a cameo.
Good point, moviebuff, I really can’t argue with you there,
I guess I was still stuck in the past for a moment there and should give the new team a bit of a chance… with or without Mr. T’s involvement.
Looking forward to Neeson playing Hannibal. Though it will be tough when compared to Peppard’s take (may he rest in peace). Loved his line “I love it when a plan comes together”. His coolness was awesome.
Liked Murdock too. I just don’t think Sharlto Copley can even come close to portraying Mad Dog like Dwight Schultz. We’ll see.
