There’s a website pricing turf war going on and you get to be the winners. Variety reported that Walmart.com has decided to sell its pre-order DVDs for only $10. We’re not talking about those old DVD’s dumped in the $5 bin, no.. these are new titles like Angels & Demons, Julie & Julia, Four Christmases, G-Force, My Sister’s Keeper, and Terminator: Salvation for only $10 and with free shipping too!
Hours after that happened Target.com and Amazon accelerated and tried to catch up by cutting their pre-order DVD prices down to $10 as well. Pre-order titles such as titles, including Harry Potter, Night at the Museum 2, and Star Trek
You wanna know what their reason is for doing this?…
They say it’s to help customers save money online during the holidays and beyond. As noble as that may sound, the fact remains, studios believe these retails are just trying to get people to shop at their websites and to estimate consumer demand early to avoid the nuisance of heavy stock returns. Plain and simple.
But always, always, always read the fine print because like my old man used to say, there’s no such thing as a free lunch and so here’s the catch. Once again, it’s a pre-order deal only, that means this pre-order discount goodness only lasts until the DVD’s themselves hit the streets. Once the DVDs get officially released, you can kiss the low price tags goodbye because they’ll disappear and won’t come back for a while.
So better hurry before the deal’s gone
