The French version that hit the web not too long ago got yanked by the studio but the official US version of the new teaser trailer for INCEPTION has finally arrived, via Apple, you can watch it using the media player below. It’s been attached to SHERLOCK HOLMES this past weekend and I stand by my opinion, this trailer is cool and yet mindboggling at the same time, the city that folds onto itself is a great concept plus there are some intense cinematic set pieces involving Leo gettin’ soaked and a badass shot of him prepping his gun but other than the mind is the scene of the crime, Christopher Nolan’s tricks remain in his sleeves for now. I’ve been a Nolan-believer since I catched ‘Memento’ on DVD and saw ‘Insomnia’ in theatres the year after. I was a bit dissapointed by ‘Batman Begins’, although the quality was there, I didn’t have the feeling Nolan was the right guy for an action-flick. I was afraid this guy would lose himself in the Hollywood-machine. Then came ‘The Prestige’, that movie was so satisfying that my fear was gone, forever. And although I think the very good ‘The Dark Knight’ is a bit overrated by all the screamers on the internet, for me he proved that he has it in him. Keeping his talent and combining it with the pressure of the big studios.
This project had me at ‘Nolan’. But when I saw ‘DiCaprio’ and ‘Levitt’ (finally people around the world recognize him as a great actor, it’s about time) it became one of the most anticipated (is that the word?) upcoming movies. This trailer gives me good hope. Thumbs up!
Before Heath Ledger wowed us with his daring performance in Brokeback Mountain, Joseph Gordon Levitt already gave us a provocative, controversial, risque role in Mysterious Skin.
It’s about time Levitt’s talent come to be recognized.
this is just my crazy thinking but I always thought Levitt kinda looks like a younger version of Heath Ledger.. I wouldn’t be surprised if Christopher Nolan’s having Levitt in his movie INCEPTION, sorta like Nolan observing and analyzing, trying to decide whether or not it’s worth it to invite Levitt to play the Joker in the next Batman movie.. but that’s just my crazy thinking.. a shot in the dark.
