Rock of Ages

Just when you thought you’ve had enough of musical movie, another one’s going to hit the big screen. A couple of years ago, there was Dreamgirls, which was elevated by Jennifer Hudson’s incredible vocal ability, last year we had Hairspray which I enjoyed,This year were Mamma Mia! and High School Musical 3, they didn’t give much hope and let’s forget Repo! The Genetic Opera ever existed at all.
Next stop, how about the 80s Rock music?!
According to Variety, New Line has won the screen rights to the stage musical ROCK OF AGES. One of the stars was American Idol’s Constantine Maroulis. No word yet if he’s going to be involved in the movie version.
Chris D’Arienzo, who wrote the book for the Off Broadway tuner, will write the screenplay and direct the film.
One of the productions companies that’s going to be helping out in making this happen is Maguire Entertainment, yup! As in Tobey freakin’ Maguire.

you know what… this is just a thought..I’m not usually for remakes.. but maybe it’s time to make another, more modernized movie version of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, now that I’d like to see.

The storyline takes place at a Sunset Strip rock club called Rock of Ages. It’s the late 1980s and the final countdown is on for a legendary Hollywood rock club facing its demise at the hands of eager developers. When a young rocker hungry for his big break and a small town girl chasing her dreams land on the scene at this infamous venue, how far will ambition drive them? And will it be lights out for the club and all the regulars and rockers who have made it their home?

ROCK OF AGES takes you on a musical trip with a story set to blazing hits from such iconic rockers as REO Speedwagon, STYX, Journey, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Steve Perry, Whitesnake, Night Ranger, Quarterflash, Poison, Asia, Damn Yankees and MORE!

So… still got room for one more Musical Movie?
Are you a fan of the 80s music… or you’re glad that era was gone years ago?
