There is a God my friends because if all goes well, we may never have to see HALLOWEEN 3D after all.
Before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s do a quick recap, HALLOWEEN 3D was initially scheduled to open next year but without Rob Zombie directing, which I thought was fantastic since HALLOWEEN II was a big giant crapola. And soon after that info arrived, it was decided that My Bloody Valentine 3D director Patrick Lussier was going to be the one helming the third installment. A hasty move if you ask me.
According to Deadline Hollywood, the first draft of the script was turned in last Friday to Dimension Films but Bob Weinstein decided to shut down the pre-production on HALLOWEEN 3D stating that “it was rushing too fast”.
It was supposed to start filming in November, done by January and released in the summer. But some say the actual problem is.. back to that old rumor.. that TWC is suffering from debts and running out of cash.
The world has heard that rumor, TWC has been having money problem despite the many times Bob Weinstein has tried to deny it and things aren’t looking any better for the company.
Summit Entertainment, via NYPOST, a studio that has been making a gazillion money thanks to Twilight franchise and their die hard tweens is looking into buying either MGM or TWC, whichever bankrupt company is more lucrative to acquire.
Wow, that’s a lot to take in,.. No HALLOWEEN 3D and the possibility of TWC being completely gone forever. Apparently not even Quentin Tarantino’s INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS managed to save that ship from sinking. If this turns out to be ture, Summit could be the most feared studio in the next decade.
By the way, if you’re one of the few who actually enjoyed HALLOWEEN II last month (why?). The sequel will be re-released into theaters again this on Halloween in select cities for midnight showings only.
