No WEDDING BANNED For Disney

Wedding Banned

Last month, Disney dropped McG’s 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA: CAPTAIN NEMO indefinitely, putting the project on a complete stop. The mouse house has taken itself another a victim. Hollywood Reporter says new Walt Disney chief Rich Ross has spoken and decided to cancel WEDDING BANNED, a comedy project with Robin Williams, Anna Faris, and Diane Keaton attached to star. It’s a shame actually because those are three talented individuals with excellent comedic timing…

The concept is about a “long-divorced couple who kidnap their daughter on her wedding day in order to keep her from making a mistake. The divorced parents rekindle their relationship as they elude cops and the angry groom.”
The script was written by Jack Amiel and Michael Begler
One of the big and understandable reason why mouse house doesn’t want to go through with the project is because after 3 weeks and counting, Robin Williams‘ recent movie Old Dogs only earned $39 Million at the box office. Well duh! The movie sucked gorillas and penguins! What’d ya expect?
That and… apparently Ross wishes if only The Blind Side and Twilight were owned by Disney. They’re owned by WB and Summit, get over it! Can you believe this new Walt Disney chief?! What a downer.. instead of looking into the future, looking for prospects, he’s looking back wishing on things they shoulda, coulda, woulda had. Disney makes mistakes, Disney’s movies aren’t always major hits, guess what..every other studio has the same problem too. That’s why you gotta go for the right scripts and not just finance a project like Old Dogs for the hell of it.
Well, at least Disney’s still got PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 4 if that’s not enough, or if Disney doesn’t like other projects that come its way, it can always make PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5, 6, 7, all the way to 1000.
The production company behind WEDDING BANNED, Mandevile Films, is going to shop the project around town, to hopefully house it at another studio.
