We previously saw official stills that showed actor Aaron Johnson (the upcoming Kick-Ass) as young John Lennon but looked more like Buddy Holly. The trailer for the biopic NOWHERE BOY has hit the web, which you can watch using the media player below and in one quick scene you’d see Lennon wanting to have that Buddy Holly look. I guess if you’re an aspiring rock star and in need of a hero, you can’t go wrong with looking up to Holly.
Nobody in this movie looks the part, not even actor Thomas Sangster could resemble or at least impersonate Paul McCartney, this only means that they’re going to have work twice as hard to prove themselves worthy of playing these icons.
TWC was supposed to distribute NOWHERE BOY to U.S. audience later this year but plans changed and it might arrive early next year instead. The script was written by scribe Matt Greenhalgh who penned the music biopic Control about singer Ian Curtis, the frontman of Joy Division. Watch the trailer after the jump…
NOWHERE BOY tells the never before seen story of John Lennon’s (Johnson) childhood. John Lennon is an ordinary fifteen year old boy on the streets of Liverpool. Funny, smart, naughty, a real edge to him. But life is not simple for John – he grew up in a family of secrets and was raised by his Aunt Mimi from the age of five. When he is suddenly reacquainted with his mother, Julia, they form an unbreakable bond. A bitter war rages between the two sisters for John’s love. Faced with bringing it to an end, he learns the secret heartbreak of his past. But his mother gives him one great gift – music. A wayward boy finds his voice, and walks into The Beatles.
The story will chronicle the influence Lennon’s aunt and mother played on the youngster’s life and recounts how tragedy strikes in the early days of his friendship with Paul McCartney.
