Not too long ago, it was mentioned that screenwriter/actor Mike White has turned in a script of what seems to be the story for SCHOOL OF ROCK 2.
I was a little worried about it, because I love the first one, I would hate to see its reputation tarnished by a sequel that can’t live up to the expectation and what the first one has monumentally achieved.
But I’m open-minded now… besides,,… I could use a reason to Rock again!
Via variety, It seems like Paramount Pictures folks are liking what they’ve read and they’re moving forward with the sequel project, bringing back Richard Linklater to direct again and of course Jack Black will reprise his role as Rock star wannabe Dewey Finn who ended up teaching fifth graders how to Rock n’ Roll and sticking it to the man!
Way cool! This info has made my day! School of Rock is one of my all time favorite movies and it successfully made about $130 million worldwide… and now with the same writer, the same director, the same actor for the second round,.. what could possibly go wrong?!
The word is that the sequel will be titled SCHOOL OF ROCK 2: AMERICA ROCKS
It would be perfect if they release it on 4th of July. Let’s cross our fingers!
The story picks up with Finn leading a group of summer school students on a cross-country field trip that delves into the history of rock ‘n’ roll and explores the roots of blues, rap, country and other genres.
I’m not sure if they’re going to cast the same kids, cause I’m sure they’re all grown up by now.
Some roles are meant to be played by the actors… this is the role that Jack Black was put on this earth to do. And being in the awesome band Tenacious D only makes him even more deserving.
“It’s a long way to the top if you wanna Rock n’ Roll” YEAH!!
