To refresh your memory, Pierre Morel is the director who made old badass Liam Neeson run around Paris trying to rescue his daughter in Taken. I just want you to remember his name because once From Paris With Love (check out the crazy trailer) gets released, Morel is going to be the talk of the town. The filmmaker who started out as a former camera operator and cinematographer is going to be the next Guy Ritchie. Action/thriller is the genre Morel is comfortable in, which is why he said yes to his new project, SIGNALS…
According to Hollywood Reporter, Morel is set to direct SIGNALS for Media Rights Capital.
MRC desperately needs a box office hit, this year has been tough for them with Bruno, Shorts and The Invention of Lying
SIGNALS is written by Richard Potter and Matthew Stravitz. The plot is being kept under wraps but it’s said to be in the similar tone as Three Days Of The Condor (1975), that classic film dealt with CIA conspiracy so maybe that’s what SIGNALS is going for.
Speaking of CIA, Morel, as we know, is also attached to direct an untitled thriller written by Frank Baldwin, the story is set in Tokyo and it centers on a CIA operative, stationed in Japan on the verge of retirement. When he’s supposed to carry out a final mission, he finds himself caught in the middle of an international conspiracy.
Morel is also going to do PURSUIT for Universal.
