You see the Canadian next to me in the picture above?! He’s one of my heroes when it comes blogging the movie world.
His name is John Campea, he started TheMovieBlog.com
This past Thursday, on the first day of the Comic-Con ‘08, I finally got to meet him briefly at the Masters of the Web panel.
Master movie bloggers of all time were there like Devin Farachi from CHUD, Mike Sampson from Joblo, Brad Miska from Bloody-Disgusting and more.
The Hosts of the event were Hollywood directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor and they were MothaF*in’ Hilarious. They cuss a lot like it’s nobody’s business.
I stood up and asked a question to John Campea. I mentioned my name and the fact that I e-mailed him before to ask for advice and input on how to run a good movie blog and popularize it. John immediately remembered me and he showed it with passion and excitement.
See… now that’s cool! How often does your hero remember you?
You can meet some bloke like Matt Damon one day and then meet him again the next year, he probably won’t remember a thing about you at all.
I asked John about how to deal with creative block and burnout.
He said that I should read the other masters’ blogs too just so I could get some inspiration as to what I should blog about next.
Afterwards, I met him, shook his hands and asked kindly if I could take a picture with him.
During the event, they gave away invitation tickets to the Party that was held last night. The kind that I’d like, the kind with booze and girls.
I didn’t win any ticket so I didn’t get to go but that’s probably for the best…. besides, I’m not cool enough to hang with those guys just yet.
Maybe someday.
For now… I need to invest some more time and work in perfecting my blogging skills.
FYI, when I first started my blog, I e-mailed many experienced movie bloggers on the web to ask for advice and John Campea was one of the few kind enough to reply.
