I’m keeping this post updated as I hear any development available
Heath Ledger, one of the most talented, coolest young actors in the world has died at 28. He was found dead by the housekeeper and a masseuse in his Manhattan Apartment on the floor next to the bed lying face down naked. Heath was nominated for Oscar for his daring role in the movie ‘Brokeback Mountain’. He left behind one daughter Matilda and a wife actress Michelle Williams who was his co-star in the same movie. They’ve split up. No detail has been released yet as to the cause of death but it might be drug-related
Nothing has been confirmed on whether it was suicide or accidental overdose. It will be for the medical examiner to determine. There’s no sign of foul play either. There was no evidence that he had been drinking. There are some prescription medicine but no illegal drugs around. It is reported that he had been suffering from pneumonia and that he was not depressed or suicidal at all. The word is though… that Heath has had history of substance abuse.
UPDATE: An NYPD spokesman now reports that there was no “obvious indication of suicide.” The pills and pill bottles found at the scene were reportedly sleeping pills, one a prescription medication, the other over-the-counter.
I’ve decided not to post anymore the youtube video of Heath Ledger fidgeting because it’s disrespectful
Now here’s the question: What’s going to happen to the movie THE IMAGINARIUM OF DOCTOR PARNASSUS that he was filming with Director Terry Gillian (12 Monkeys, The Brothers Grimm)in charge?
The bigger question brought up by screener Sam is how THE DARK KNIGHT’s going to change because of this? In TDK, we’ll have Scarecrow coming back, since none of us have seen the movie, did Director Christopher Nolan and Screenwriter Jonathan Nolan set it in a way that the Joker might return for the third installment or did they kill him off? Because if the latter was the case, then they might have to go back to the script and come up with ‘adjustments’. But if The Joker was to return in the third Batman film, then will it be done in the same way as the movie The Crow when Brandon Lee died? Are they gonna hire a Heath look alike using a digital touch up here and there?
Either way, the world of entertainment is saddened by this news and we just lost a great actor today.
Rest in peace, Heath… Thank you for your movies.
Warner Bros. has issued a statement saying the following: “The studio is stunned and devastated by this tragic news. The entertainment community has lost an enormous talent. Heath was a brilliant actor and an exceptional person. Our hearts go out to his family and friends.”
