Riddick

Some people just don’t know when to stop. Already we got the latest trailer for FAST AND FURIOUS today and bam! Vin Diesel talked to MTV about the possibility of continuing the RIDDICK franchise… get this! Not one but Two more RIDDICK Movies.

The first movie, Pitch Black, the actual decent one, was released back in 2000 had the production cost of $23 Million but only earned about $39 Million in domestic box office.
and the second movie, the lame and boringThe Chronicles of Riddick back in 2004 had the production cost of $105 Million and only earned about $57 Million in domestic box office.
To be fair the animated movie Dark Fury and the video game actually didn’t do so bad worldwide.

Any ordinary person would see that statistics trend and think twice before coming up with another installment in the franchise… but Vin Diesel is no ordinary person, he really thinks he’s Riddick, this is what he said…

“David Twowy right now is writing the scripts. The only question is whether we take a page from the ‘Lord of the Rings’ guys and try to shoot the two chapters at the same time. There are two more in mind,” he said of Riddick, the Furyan warrior first introduced in the 2000 film “Pitch Black.” “‘The Chronicles of Riddick’ was presented as a three part trilogy that would answer ‘Pitch Black’ in the same way that ‘Lord of the Rings’ answered ‘The Hobbit.’”

“Everyone knows I love the Riddick character and I’m always working on it,” Diesel asserted. “It just takes five years to make another one because David Twohy and I are so precious about it.”

“Sooner or later we all end up in the Underverse,” he said of where we can expect the next chapter to take place, adding in a Riddick-like voice, “Sooner or later.”

Underverse… is that supposed to sound cool or somethin’? Sounds more like new breefs from Hanes.
Remember the time when Vin Diesel was in a great war movie called Saving Private Ryan with Matt Damon, Tom Hanks, and Director Steven Spielberg.
Whatever happens to that Vin Diesel?!
I’d rather have him do a sequel to the 1999 animated movie THE IRON GIANT.. how come nobody’s thinking about that idea.

Would you wanna see RIDDICK 3 and 4?
