Mr. Tony Stark a.k.a Robert Downey Jr. is putting his foot down and he knows the pressure is heavy with THE AVENGERS Movie, not only because the expectation is high but also the every comic fan in the geekdom world will be eyeing to see if Marvel does the characters justice. It’s a big task to assemble so many superheroes together and come up with a solid plot that would compliment them as a team. It’s like the gatherings of the titans. If it gets too ridiculous, then critics will come reigning down on this one harder than a meteorite.
Robert Downey Jr. talked to MTV about this massive, ambitious project that is THE AVENGERS…
“If we don’t get it right it’s really, really going to suck,” said Downey. “It has to be the crowning blow of Marvel’s best and brightest because it’s the hardest thing to get right. It’s tough to spin all the plates for one of these characters.”
“The danger you run with colliding all these worlds is [director] Jon [Favreau] was very certain that ‘Iron Man’ should be set in a very realistic world. Nothing that happened in ‘Iron Man’ is really outside the realm of possibility. Once you start talking about Valhalla and supersized super soldiers and jolly green giants it warrants much further discussion.”
There was talk about having The Hulk as the villain in THE AVENGERS Movie, it’s still be debated, and at the camp of IRON MAN 2, there was rumor about scaling down the character Rhodey, to be played by Don Cheadle, but that rumor got debunked.
Last month, Downey Jr. and Cheadle have both signed on to be in THE AVENGERS Movie which is scheduled for release on July 15th, 2011
What do you think about his statement?
Is THE AVENGERS Movie an impossible task that’s too big to accomplish?? What do you think Marvel and Director Jon Favreau should do to get it right??
Is IRON MAN Technology actually possible in the real world?
How long do you think can Robert Downey jr. keep up playing Tony Stark/IRON MAN, how many more IRON MAN movies until you say, ‘I’m done with this franchise’??
