Now we can know for certain that Sam Raimi is indeed looking for another female lead in SPIDER-MAN 4. After the rumor about Rachel McAdams earlier today, Brit actress Romola Garai (Amazing Grace, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights) revealed via The Observer that she was trying to get a part in the movie but she also didn’t sound like she was keeping her hopes up…
“Love is at the root of everything good that has ever happened and will happen.” This phrase swam into focus as I moved up the escalator at Oxford Circus tube on Tuesday morning on my way to put myself “on tape” for a part in Spider-Man 4. This is the acting equivalent of the London Marathon in that it’s important to try your best as long as you understand that you aren’t going to win.
So who should it be? Rachel McAdams… or… Romola Garai

Hahaha. Mary Elizabeth can’t really act though. I mean, Garai’s proven herself as the best of the Brionys in Atonement. And Rachel McAdams is beaming with talent… just needs to find a way to funnel it. I’d say Garai would benefit the most from the part though.

If SPIDER-MAN franchise was all about acting,… they wouldn’t have hired Kirsten Dunst in the first place.
All I’m saying is that I think Mary Elizabeth Winstead can unleash the sensuality that The Black Cat obviously has… the sensuality which is pretty much mostly what we expect The Black Cat to show, being a crazy stalker and all.
Winstead just needs a shot to prove that.

True, Kirsten Dunst has slowly transformed into a very wooden actress and Tobey’s been pretty one note, though likeable throughout. Though consider the villainous talent. Willem Dafoe! F…cking Alfred Molina! (I won’t comment on Spider Man 3). I think that for the villains they can usually do better. But Mary’s not horrible… I suppose I could see her playing a part similar to Bryce Dallas Howard in the third film instead of a baddie.
Though, I’m not entirely familiar with Black Cat. Is she really just like Scarlett Johannson’s character in Iron Man 2?
Really at the point where spiderman movie are now. It makes no difference. Just get a cute blonde put her in a black suit with white furry cuffs and have her act slutty towards spiderman and ignore peter parker. Key role…..a blonde acting slutty…not hard to find, not hard to do. Mary, Rachel..hell anyone can do it. Bring it on. I hope the black suit is vinyl. That’s all I care about. Meow!
