It doesn’t matter that DEADPOOL project was announced because the star Ryan Reynolds isn’t going that direction yet, at least not anytime soon. I’m sure he’s just waiting for further development and the script, but until then… he’s going to do what any actor and director (Nolan, Soderbergh) would do in between.. going indie.
According to Variety, Reynolds has signed on to star in BURIED. To be directed by Rodrigo Cortes with the script by Chris Sparling, a gritty thriller about “a civilian contractor who’s kidnapped in Iraq and awakens buried in a coffin in the desert, armed only with a cell phone, a candle and a knife”
McGyver would use those 3 objects to somehow make a missile and blast himself out of that coffin unharmed. Gotta love the 80s.
Audiences who are claustrophobic might have a hard time watching BURIED but what’s interesting to me is that this is going to be a movie where the one lead character holds the screen through most of the ordeal.
