Like I’ve said a thousand times before, I don’t know much about GREEN LANTERN because I didn’t grew up a fan of the guy with the super power ring. But I’m slowly learning about GREEN LANTERN from Ryan Reynolds that keeps spilling beans about the live action movie. It’s kind of cool actually, it’s like Reynolds reading a bedtime comic book story to you, he should have a weekly segment where he does nothing but share bits and pieces of GREEN LANTERN to the world. He talked again to MTV, saying that unlike IRON MAN, you’re going to remember GREEN LANTERN for Hal Jordan,.. the impression or emphasis is not so much on the suit…
“I think you walk away from this first film, and the moments that you remember and the moments that mean so much to you, not unlike ‘Iron Man,’ are the moments where the guy’s not in the suit,”
“That to me is the tough thing to get right,”
“And that’s something that they did get right [in 'Iron Man']. You see why this guy’s in the suit, and that’s what’s interesting to me. Not that he is in the suit, but why.”
“It is [an origin story] to a certain degree, but it’s not a labored origin story, where the movie [truly] begins in the third act,” he explained. “The movie starts when it starts. We find out Hal is the guy fairly early on, and the adventure begins.”
GREEN LANTERN will open on scheduled, June 17th, 2011
Starring Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan. Martin Campbell will be directing using the script written by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green
Campbell previously said that the FX process alone for GREEN LANTERN will be daunting because it involves 1,300 visual effects shots mostly focused on the Green Lantern’s powers generated through his mystical ring.
