Indy Jones Shia LaBeouf

Could you actually imagine Shia LaBeouf taking on INDIANA JONES Franchise for the next installments?
Apparently, George Lucas can. Whether or not he’s going to go through with the idea is another story.
Here’s what he said to Foxnews

“I haven’t even told Steven or Harrison this,” he said. “But I have an idea to make ShiaLeBeouf] the lead character next time and have Harrison [Ford] come back like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out.

“And it’s not like Harrison is even old. I mean, he’s 65 and he did everything in this movie. The old chemistry is there, and it’s not like he’s an old man. He’s incredibly agile; he looks even better than he did 20 years ago, if you ask me.”

So if this happens, what will the story be?
The first three movies have Nazis as the bad guys, this new one has Soviets as the villains,..
what’s next? Shia will go against KGB and we see old Harrison Ford will have a full beard on and sit on the side of the motorcycle?

Frankly, I just don’t see Shia attract audiences by being the main star of this adventure that’s so attached to the charisma of one Harrison Ford.
Shia would eventually become a respected actor someday but to carry summer blockbuster would require giant robots or the shadow of someone much more iconic. A face that would attract big box office money.

Should there be another Indiana Jones movie?
But then again, the collaboration of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas has been known to be the kind that when they see a chance they could make sequels and squeeze some more out of you, they would.. in a heartbeat.
That’s what Hollywood filmmakers do.

INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL opens May 22nd, 2008.
