Sin City

Wanna let you in on the development of SIN CITY 2 and HARD BOILED before I have to fly out of Houston and back to Sunny Southern California. All this time we’ve been hearing different versions of what’s going on with the sequel to what quite possibly was one of the most faithful adaptations I’ve ever seen. At one point, we heard SIN CITY 2 is not housed at TWC’s Dimension Films anymore, and then there was that rumor of Angelina Jolie joining the cast, and Mickey Rourke is not comfortable reprising his role again. Comics2Film at Mania.com had a brief chat with producer Stephen L’Heureux of Solipsist Films and though he could neither confirm nor deny those rumors, he did say when production will start…

SIN CITY 2 will go into production in the second half of 2010. It will be based on an original script by Frank Miller who is expected to return to co-direct the movie with Robert Rodriguez. So the sequel will not use the graphic novels as both screenplay and story boards like how it was done in the first movie.
One one hand, I think it’s good to find a fresh view but…that comic book look and feel are what made Sin City such a treat to watch. Besides, after the god-awful The Spirit, I’m scared of Frank Miller’s ability as a screenwriter.

He also said that Miller is working on the screenplay for HARD BOILED, based on his and co-creator/illustrator Geof Darrow’s comic about an insurance investigator-turned-cyborg assassin. Miller is attached to direct the adaptation.
Once again, after The Spirit, which Miller directed, I’m going to approach his second directorial feature with extreme caution, expect the worse.
HARD BOILED will take a while, still in the early stages, it’ll have to wait for SIN CITY 2.. but there are talks of SIN CITY 3. I kid you not.
