STARDUST is an awesome movie, and when I say awesome I mean it leaves you in awe. Yes, the visual effects are really cool but the storyline based on the imagination of author Neil Gaiman is what breathes life into this tale. I’ve seen many movies about fantasy worlds, and this is definitely one of the best and the most refreshing one so far and… if you go through this whole summer without watching STARDUST, then you, my friends, are missing out.
A village has this wall that separates the real world and a fantasy kingdom filled with magic and sorcery. A king (Peter O’Toole) is dying and the sons want to kill each other in order to be the next king. But the king throws a ruby up into the skies and a shooting star fall down in a form of the beautiful Claire Danes. Not far from there, a village shopboy named Tristan is trying to woo his crush, Victoria (Sienna Miller) by promising her that he’d bring back the fallen star in a week. So the adventure begins the star and Tristan encounter interesting character along the way including the wicked ol’ witch (Michelle Pfeiffer) and the gay flying pirate (Robert DeNiro).
That’s right, I said gay flying pirate, try to make sense out of that one, and Robert DeNiro does an eccentric job of showing it.
This is an exciting movie, funny and romantic as well. Swordfights and magic spells.
It reminds us that often times what we’re looking for is right in front of our eyes all along if we’d only let ourselves see.
It’s about not setting boundaries and limitation to ourselves,… that we could be so much more if we want it badly enough no matter what others may think.
We know that Robert DeNiro is a legendary actor with a wide range of capabilities, but I guarantee you have never seen Robert like he is in the movie Stardust.
Overall, it’s a good family fun fairy tale that’s filled with jokes that would make you smile, and that’s not a bad thing.
It’s like ‘The Princess Bride’ but ten times more thrilling.
