Sgt. Rock

I’m not too familiar with the DC comics’ SGT. ROCK but it has been passion project for super producer Joel Silver for nearly 20 years and it will now finally see the light of day, for reals this time. According to Hollywood Reporter, Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend) is set to direct, scribe Chad St. John will write the screenplay and Akiva Goldsman will help Silver in producing the project that will be housed at Warner Bros. But here’s the twist, they’re going to change the setting from WWII into the future… Read the rest of this entry »

Clancy Brown As LOBO?

Posted by Rama On October - 29 - 2009

Clancy Brown Lobo

As we know, Guy Ritchie is going to make a movie adaptation of LOBO and it’s expected to be PG-13 even though the character from the original material is known for hard R violence. Producer Akiva Goldsman previously said that they’ve got the character design already done and test screening is the next step. So far, one of the actors who’s openly wanting the role is Jeffrey Dean Morgan a.k.a The Comedian From Watchmen. He’d be a cool choice although I think Mickey Rourke would be perfect, but Rama’s SCREEN reader Richard didn’t think the same. How bout forgetting famous names alltogether and just cast Clancy Brown? Clancy who you might ask… Read the rest of this entry »

Lobo, Swamp Thing, Winter's Tale

Here’s what we all know so far, LOBO The movie is happening, to be directed by Guy Ritchie (Snatch) but oddly enough, it’s going to be PG-13. Meanwhile, super producer Joel Silver wants a new SWAMP THING movie.. in 3D. And then there’s the 1983 book WINTER’S TALE by author Mark Helprin. So what do those 3 have in common? One name… Akiva Goldsman. The go-to screenwriter/producer when a filmmaker needs somebody to do a touch up on certain adaptation. His failure days of Lost In Space and Batman and Robin are way behind him. He won Oscar for A Beautiful Mind and after that, the decade has been nothing but good to him ( I Robot, I Am Legend, Cinderella Man, The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons) He spoke via LA TIMES about what they have in mind regarding those 3 projects that are currently in development, after this jump… Read the rest of this entry »

Fox Gets Goldsman To Produce FANTASTIC FOUR The Reboot

Posted by Rama On August - 31 - 2009

Fantastic Four

Well that was quick. On the same day that Disney said it’s buying Marvel entertainment, Fox is putting on the fast track its plan to re-boot FANTASTIC FOUR. Disney may own Marvel’s 5000 characters but the previous deals Marvel made with other studios before today’s shocking event remain in motion until further notice. That means Fox which has been responsible for X-Men movies, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and its Japan story sequel, Deadpool spin-off and of course FANTASTIC FOUR, can still control these titles as long as it continues making the movies while Marvel remains a producer and financial participant through a licensing agreement.

Variety reported that Fox has summoned Akiva Goldsman, the Oscar winning screenwriter of A Beautiful Mind and producer of I Am Legend, to be the producer and to oversee FANTASTIC FOUR the reboot.
The new script will be written by Michael Green, the co-writer of the upcoming DC adaptation, GREEN LANTERN starring Ryan Reynolds
No word yet whether Ioan Gruffud, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis will reprise their roles again as Mr. Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing. But let’s face it, they were awful and why bother calling it a reboot if you keep the same players?!
The first movie, Fantastic Four (2005) was made with a budget of $100 Million and only earned $150 Million, the second one did just as bad, Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer (2007) was made with a budget of $130 Million and only earned $131 Million.
Who do you think should be cast as the new FANTASTIC FOUR?
