THE RITE Of Anthony Hopkins

Anthony Hopkins The Rite

Watching Anthony Hopkins transform into a werewolf in THE WOLFMAN was trippy, but now a full moon will be the least of his problems. Heat Vision said, the man who’s going to be THOR’s father has signed on to star in the adaptation of THE RITE, based on a book by Matt Baglio, about Exorcism, Michael Petroni wrote the script. It’s a supernatural thriller for NewLine/WB, to be directed by Mikael Hafstrom, the filmmaker behind the 2007 under-appreciated Stephen King thriller 1408Read the rest of this entry »

WOLFMAN New Behind-The-Scenes Featurette

Wolfman

Ok, so the test screenings might not have turned out well but even if the story’s gonna stink, even if the acting is gonna blow, even if every other aspect is going to be disappointing, at least we can count on Rick Baker’s make up FX mastery, I’ll at least look forward to watching that. Yahoo has this new behind-the-scenes featurette for THE WOLFMAN starring Benicio Del Toro who’s explaining the father-son relationship which the classic films didn’t explore, the privilege of working with the great Anthony Hopkins, my favorite part is when the wolf viciously attacks him, it is glorious isn’t it?!… Read the rest of this entry »

THE WOLFMAN Is Rated R

I had high hopes for THE WOLFMAN, the anticipation of seeing Oscar winning make up artist Rick Baker’s latest work, the combination of talents that are Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins and Hugo Weaving. (Sorry Emily Blunt, you’re hot but actingwise, you’re not as great as those three yet), not to mention the trailer was wicked! But alas,… Read the rest of this entry »

Empire’s Stars In Their Iconic Roles

Empire1

For its 20th Birthday, Empire Magazine decided to bring together A-list movie stars and have them do a photo-shoot but in a memorable pose, by memorable I mean them somewhat re-enacting their iconic characters in the past. My favorite one is the shot above of Anthony Hopkins behind glass wall and Jodie Foster, reminiscent of their Oscar winning roles in Silence Of The Lambs. Check out more OVER THERE but I’ve included a few more after this jump including Guv’nah Ahnold trying to re-live his Terminator days. Very nostalgic… Read the rest of this entry »

Wolfman1

This week, there’s a secret test screening in Hollywood and the only tagline it uses to invite audiences is that it will have you ‘howlin’ at the moon’, I’m guessing it’s THE WOLFMAN because what else could it be?! We saw the previous haunting noir style and filmsanctu has this international poster for THE WOLFMAN (watch the trailer). Maybe those are Hopkins and Del Toro’s hands. But here’s what’s interesting, slashfilm pointed out that 2 great editors Mark Goldblatt (Terminator 2: Judgment Day) and Walter Murch (The English Patient) are re-working the film that’s been previously edited by Dennis Virkler (The Fugitive). Blogger Connelly thinks director “Joe Johnston shot a lot of coverage and has left Goldblatt and Murch options open as much as possible fashion something at least efficient and functional out of the Wolfman rushes”

Annette Bening Ernest Hemingway Anthony Hopkins

Andy Garcia has an old time passion project that he wants to bring to the big screen. Garcia looks Italian which is why he’s played Italian roles in his career (Godfather part III, Hoodlum) but we all know Garcia is not an Italian name, he’s Cuban and there’s a story that always hits close to home for him. It’s the story about the late great Ernest Hemingway who spent 20 years living in Cuba, fishing with his best friend Gregorio Fuentes. Over there, the writer fell in love with a beautiful Italian girl. This is what the period drama HEMINGWAY & FUENTES will depict… Read the rest of this entry »

Anthony Hopkins Is Odin In THOR

Anthony Hopkins Odin

Director Kenneth Branagh has found his Odin and it’s not Brian Blessed as previously rumored. According to Variety, the man who will play the ruler of Asgard, father of the mighty God of thunder THOR, is none other than the great Sir Anthony Hopkins (Beowulf, Fracture, Alexander) or as Hollywood would call him.. the go-to guy when they need an actor who’s old and wise and badass all at once… Read the rest of this entry »

Woody Allen WILL MEET A TALL DARK STRANGER

You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger

Woody Allen’s brand of humor is peculiar, if you’re not used to his movies, you might not enjoy Whatever Works or Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Granted, he had a string of one disappointment after another until those 2 titles arrived and reminded me why he’s still one of the most respected filmmakers around so much so that caliber actors are lining up to work for him. The image above is via Zimbio, from the set of his new untitled movie with A-list ensemble cast who you definitely recognize but the project now has an official title… Read the rest of this entry »

THE WOLFMAN New Trailer

Wolf Man

Universal has released the 2nd trailer for THE WOLFMAN, via Apple and this has more fast paced action packed footage compared to the previous trailer that showed a bit of the background story.
Go ahead and marvel at the legendary makeup artist Rick Baker’s latest masterpiece.
It’s been a long wait, the release date has been changed so many times, I thought the movie wasn’t treated fairly, we should’ve seen this back in 2008. But THE WOLFMAN will finally arrive in time for Valentine season 2010.
Check out the new trailer after the jump and let me know what you think… Read the rest of this entry »

THE WOLF MAN Trailer

And to make this day even more complete, the trailer of THE WOLF MAN has hit the web, via Yahoo. Universal screened this same footage back at Comic-Con ‘08 panel. I am loving the the stunning work that make-up magician Rick Baker to give that menacing animal look that Benicio Del Toro transforms into. Since the movie opens Valentine’s Day weekend 2010, I’m assuming the story might focus on the ‘beauty and the beast’-like romance between Del Toro and Emily Blunt… with lots of killing, howling, and terror all around. What do you think?

Inspired by the classic Universal film that launched a legacy of horror, The Wolfman brings the myth of a cursed man back to its iconic origins. Oscar winner Benicio Del Toro stars as Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Reunited with his estranged father (Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins), Talbot sets out to find his brother…and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself. Joe Johnston directs The Wolfman, and six-time OscarĀ®-winning special effects artist Rick Baker brings his design and makeup talents to transform Del Toro into the fearsome title character

THE WOLF MAN opens February 12th, 2009
