Just the other day we heard info about Matt Damon and Ben Affleck collaborating again, but as producing partners with first look deal at WB and now Deadline Hollywood reported that their first order of business would be to make a movie about the team they’ve hated all their life… Read the rest of this entry »

THE COMPANY MEN Teaser
The teaser trailer for THE COMPANY MEN showed up online, via AICN. Maybe it’s just me but for some reason it has the Up In The Air vibe, especially in shots when Tommy Lee Jones, Chris Cooper and Ben Affleck are getting ready to go to work. This movie about downsizing and economic climate will make its way to the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. Featuring cinematography by the master Roger Deakins (No Country For Old Men, The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford)
Watch the teaser after this jump… Read the rest of this entry »
WB’s 2010 Preview Offers First Look Photos
Yesterday, Warner Bros. gave the world a preview of its 2010 line up. Nothing much, mostly list of titles and their release dates but it did offer some new first look photos of upcoming movies. But what’s worth noticing is that Kevin Smith’s new comedy which kept going back and forth from A COUPLE OF DICKS to A COUPLE OF COPS is now UNTITLED COP COMEDY, seems like Smith and the studio still don’t see eye to eye about the title yet. Too bad the preview didn’t give us a first look at INCEPTION but it has some more, including Ben Affleck’s crime drama THE TOWN. I’ve included some of them here, check ‘em out after the jump… Read the rest of this entry »
The New JACK RYAN Movie Will Not Be An Origin Story
A couple of months ago, Paramount said that it expects Chris Pine to be the new Jack Ryan in the next installment which will not be based on a Tom Clancy novel. At that point, Producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mace Neufeld are working with a script draft by Hossein Amini, and a rewrite by Adam Cozad is happening, the studio has taken the “first step in creating a re-boot that lives up to the successful lineage of the franchise.”
Via comingsoon.net, Producer Mace Neufeld gave his own confirmation as well that Chris Pine is indeed going to be the new Jack Ryan and the story will be an original, it doesn’t have a title yet but more than that, it will NOT be an origin story… Read the rest of this entry »
THE BLADE Of Chris Pine
A long while ago, it was announced that Ben Affleck with Gone Baby Gone buddies, producer Sean Bailey and screenwriter Aaron Stockard are developing the adaptation of THE BLADE ITSELF based on the explosive crime thriller novel by first time author Marcus Sakey. EsquireMagazine said it was one of the best novels of 2007. The New York Times called it a book that “Delivers a kick and leaves no loose ends.” and after a long time of silence, the project is slowly moving again… Read the rest of this entry »
Chris Pine Is The New Jack Ryan
Ya know, when I said the other day that Chris Pine needs to play other gigs in between his STAR TREK gig, just to avoid being trapped in one role and suffer the William Shatner fate, I didn’t mean that he needs to sign up for another franchise but just like Christian Bale and Ryan Reynolds, Pine doesn’t see the harm in doing so.
According to Variety, after a long while of searching, Paramount has found its new Jack Ryan in Pine.
It’s been confirmed that Pine will continue the legacy that got started by Alec Baldwin and continued by Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck.
Paramount hopes that with Pine as the new Jack Ryan, the studio has taken the “first step in creating a re-boot that lives up to the successful lineage of the franchise.”
Pine is expected to return as Cpt. James T Kirk in STAR TREK sequel but it unclear yet whether he would tackle that before the Jack Ryan movie.
Producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mace Neufeld are working with a script draft by Hossein Amini, based on an original concept, not an adaptation of any of Tom Clancy’s novels.
Just like how the next BOURNE movie will not be based on Ludlum’s books either.
George Clooney and James Franco were some of the names that rumored for the role, but I think Chris Pine is the better choice.
Blake Lively Is In TOWN
When I first saw Blake Lively on Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants, I thought ‘damn, did Kate Hudson just make herself young again?!’. According to Hollywood Reporter, the star of the popular CW teen series Gossip Girl has signed on for THE TOWN to be directed by Ben Affleck. Also joining in are Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) and Chris Cooper (Adaptation). Already in the cast are John Hamm and Rebecca Hall.
Ben Affleck would direct and star in the movie project titled THE TOWN for Warner Bros., based on the novel Prince of Thieves by author Chuck Hogan, about a love triangle between a female bank manager, a longtime thief who stole more than her heart and an equally smitten FBI agent trying to bust the crook and his gang before they can pull another big job
It will be produced by Graham King, he’s the dude who brought us the American version, kick ass thriller, Marty Scorsese’s instant classic The Departed.
Affleck is is set to play the bank robber, Hamm plays the FBI agent and Hall plays the teller/bank manager, the subject of the two men’s infatuation. Renner will be part of Affleck’s crime gang, Cooper plays Affleck’s dad and Lively is set to play Affleck’s troubled ex-girlfriend. That’s a lot of Affleck in one sentence.
Affleck rewrote the draft by Peter Craig and Hogan. Production will start next month in Boston
George Clooney Is Too Old For Jack Ryan
When George Clooney and his business partner producer Grant Heslov packed up and moved from WB to Sony not too long ago, info hit the web that Clooney was looking to do commercial maintenance gig by playing Jack Ryan if Paramount would want to revive the franchise based on Tom Clancy novels.
I thought at the time and I still stand by my opinion that George Clooney would be the perfect Jack Ryan, it’ll bring back the good old days Alec Baldwin and Harrison Ford and make us forget Ben Affleck’s involvement ever existed. Hell if Clooney was British, he’d make the perfect James Bond.
But MTV talked to producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and he has another plan in mind..
“We submitted a script to Paramount recently,”
“It was well-received and it’s in the process.”
“It’s for a young Jack Ryan. I love George, but it’s not written for a man of his age. It’s written for a guy in his early 30s.”
I don’t know if I can trust di Bonaventura’s desire to cast younger actors, I don’t know if I can even trust di Bonaventura at all nowadays. Just this year alone, he’s been associated as a producer of Imagine That, Transformers 2 and the recent G.I. Joe movie.
And don’t forget the recent outrage that author Phil Carlo expressed because di Bonaventura wants to cast Channing Tatum in the biopic project ICE MAN. God forbid Bonaventura casts Tatum as Jack Ryan.
EXTRACT New Poster
I want to vouch for Mike Judge, I’d like to tell everybody all over the world of his upcoming movie EXTRACT, (check out the trailer) that’s how much of a fan I was of Office Space, Idiocracy and Beavis and Butthead but the scenes that they showed at Comic-Con ‘09 weren’t funny, none of the clips made me laugh, in fact it was a very boring panel, hardly any member of the audience wanted to come up and ask questions. I’m just hoping it’s because Judge is keeping the ’secret laugh-riot weapon’ for when we see the whole movie. Via we are movie geeks, the new poster for EXTRACT hit the web and you might like or hate the artwork depending on whether Mila Kunis‘ freakishly huge right hand is a bit too much.
Ben Affleck will play an ambulance-chasing lawyer in the film, which centers on a flower extract factory owner (Jason Bateman) who’s dealing with workplace problems and a streak of bad luck, including his wife’s affair with a gigolo.
EXTRACT opens September 4th, 2009
