We saw the previous teaser and now Twitch has the full international trailer for BLACK LIGHTNING, produced by Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov, directed by Alexandr Voitinsky and Dmitriy Kiselev. I gotta admit, the VFX looks awesome. The duel between 2 flying cars in the end is kinda cool, the hero is flying on old rusty Volga, and the villain is flying on luxury Mercedes. The movie was made with a budget of only $8 Million and if it’s a big hit in Russia, who knows, we might see it here in the U.S. hopefully next year, either that or an American remake which I think should star Hayden Christensen cause that Russian kid sure looks a lot like Annakin. BLACK LIGHTNING Russian Trailer
Via Quiet Earth, There was a time when Russia’s response to everything that U.S. made comes in the threat of nuclear war but this particular movie is being described as “Russia’s Response to Transformers and Batman”. What a bold statement, let’s see if they can back it up.
You might ask, ’so what’s the big deal about this anyway’? Because BLACK LIGHTNING is produced by the guy who brought us Wanted last year, Timur Bekmambetov via his own company, Bazelevs.
You can watch the international trailer here and the read the translation below. So far, the impression I got from watching the trailer alone is.. it looks like a clip from Back to the Future but instead of a flying Delorean, it’s a flying Volga which is like a Russian Mercedes. Considered a luxury car for middle to high management and political figures, but it’s not the most luxurious car for top leaders
BLACK LIGHTNING is directed by two proud Russians, Alexander Voytinskiy and Dmitry Kiselev
The teaser is too brief for us to judge further
According to Live for Films, here’s the translation..
Black Lightning is the story of a Russian college student who buys a second hand car which turns out to have magical powers, yes it can fly, and it turns him into the superhero who has to protect the city.
BLACK LIGHTNING is set to open in Mother Russia on December 31st, 2009
