I usually don’t get too opinionated on the titles of my posts but this trailer is exactly that, dumb, dumb, dumb. We saw the first look photo and now Summit has released the trailer for FURRY VENGEANCE, via Apple, starring Brendan Fraser and Brooke Shields and forest critters out to cause mayhem. Should we be worried that Fraser’s career might go down the same path that Eddie Murphy is taking? And Fraser’s comedy in this movie is more like Will Ferrell’s.. lots of yelling and screaming. I’d rather watch South Park’s Woodland Critters episode a thousand times over. I’m predicting this movie and Hot Tub Time Machine to be 2 of the unfunniest comedy of 2010. Brace yourself! Look At FURRY VENGEANCE And ECLIPSE First Images
Today Summit Entertainment unleashed preview images of their upcoming movies of 2010. Most of them were nothing new. But two titles stood out, FURRY VENGEANCE starring Brendan Fraser and Brooke Shields, I don’t know why but for some reasons flashes of Monkeybone ran through my mind. Fraser loves coming back to silly adventures like this. The next one is Twilight Saga: ECLIPSE, the photo is like an official version of the first look scanned images we saw back in October. Once again, it’s Edward and Bella in a staring contest. Can’t they do any other pose, for crying out loud?! View them both, via Collider, and check out the synopsis after the jump… Read the rest of this entry »

2 EXTRAORDINARY MEASURES Posters
Here at Rama’s SCREEN, I’ve been trying to encourage you guys to check out the powerful human drama titled EXTRAORDINARY MEASURES starring Brendan Fraser and Harrison Ford. But here’s what I don’t understand, Cinematical received 2 official posters today for the movie that’s supposed to be about finding a cure for a child’s threatening disease and yet.. the images give another impression, Ford and Fraser’s floating heads and the walking steadfast pose, if I didn’t know any better, I’d say these are posters for a cop buddy flick. It’s a bit misleading, don’t you think? The marketing should really need to come up with a poster that speaks about the story instead… Read the rest of this entry »

EXTRAORDINARY MEASURES First Image And Featurette
CBS films has sent me this first image and the official synopsis and a featurette of the upcoming drama EXTRAORDINARY MEASURES starring Harrison Ford, Brandon Fraser and Keri Russell. It’s currently scheduled to hit theaters on January 22nd, 2010
this first look featurette gives you a glimpse of the film and the real life backstory of the Crowley family
OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:
Harrison Ford, Brendan Fraser and Keri Russell star in “Extraordinary Measures” for CBS Films, the film division within CBS Corporation (NYSE: CBS.A and CBS). The project, which wrapped principal photography in mid-June 2009, was the first film to go into production for CBS Films. Ford is also executive producer on the project. Tom Vaughan (“Starter for 10,” “What Happens in Vegas”) is directing.
In the tradition of great inspirational dramas like the Academy Award nominated film “Erin Brockovich” and “The Pursuit of Happyness,” “Extraordinary Measures” is inspired by the true story of John Crowley, a man who defied conventional wisdom and great odds, and risked his family’s future to pursue a cure for his children’s life threatening disease.
From his working class roots, John Crowley (Brendan Fraser) has finally begun to taste success in corporate America. Supported by his beautiful wife Aileen (Keri Russell) and their three children, John is on the fast track. But just as his career is taking off, Crowley walks away from it all when his two youngest children, Megan and Patrick, are diagnosed with a fatal disease. With Aileen by his side, harnessing all of his skill and determination, Crowley teams up with a brilliant, but unappreciated and unconventional scientist, Dr. Robert Stonehill (Harrison Ford). Together they form a bio-tech company focused on developing a life-saving drug. One driven to prove himself and his theories, the other by a chance to save his children, this unlikely alliance eventually develops into mutual respect as they battle the medical and business establishments in a fight against the system – and time.
But, at the last minute, when it appears that a solution has been found, the relationship between the two men faces a final test – the outcome of which will affect the fate of John’s children.
Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher (“World Trade Center,” “Erin Brockovich”), alongside Carla Santos Shamberg (“Erin Brockovich”), produce through their Double Feature Films banner. Robert Nelson Jacobs (“The Water Horse,” “Chocolat”) wrote the screenplay, which was inspired by the book “The Cure” by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Geeta Anand.
JOURNEY Sequel: MYSTERIOUS ISLAND
One of the movies I enjoyed watching last year was Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D starring Brendan Fraser. The movie came out a few weeks before his disastrous Mummy 3 hit the theaters and ruin his reputation. Not a lot of people like the JOURNEY because they over-analyzed it when instead they should’ve just let lose and allow the 3D adventure take you for a thrill ride which I thought it did, the visual fx were fantastic especially that whole roller coaster scene in the mining cave, which reminded me of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
At the end of the movie, if I remember correctly, Brendan’s character was holding a book about Atlantis, kinda teasing the audience and hinting them of a possible sequel about him, his nephew, and his blond girlfriend on another journey for the next installment in search of the lost mythical civilization.
It might not be Atlantis but it’s an island. According to Variety, New Line rejoin forces with Walden Media and ContraFilm to develop the sequel, MYSTERIOUS ISLAND: THE LOST MAP OF TREASURE ISLAND, based on a a script by Richard Outten and the story is the subject of three classic novels (Jules Verne’s Mysterious Island, Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island and Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels).
The concept sounds cool and all but it sounds like something that’s already tackled and should be left tackled by Pirates of the Caribbean movies and National Treasure movies.
Eric Brevig, who directed the first movie hasn’t signed on to direct the second movie yet but is currently working with Outten to develop the script.. well, at least the Visual veteran Charlotte Huggins and ContraFilm’s Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson will reprise their roles as producers to make sure you’ll have an exciting time at the theaters again.
Brendan Fraser might not be the most talented actor on earth but I can imagine years and years from now, when he’s old and gray, he’d accept an Oscar lifetime achievement award for all his contributions. I wouldn’t be surprised
Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D was shot in live action, but the landscapes and creatures were generated with high-definition, photo-real 3-D technology, it was made with $60 Million budget but the movie earned $101 Million domestically and a total of $240.6 Million in worldwide box office. That sounds like success to me.
Brendan Fraser on MUMMY 3
Director Rob Cohen (Stealth) is taking his sweet time and still hasn’t released any MUMMY 3 trailer yet. It was supposed to be available sometime in March but now that the month is at its end, we’re left waiting again.
For the time being, here’s a clip of Access Hollywood’s chat with Brendan Fraser who reprises his role in this third installment of the MUMMY Franchise.
The things he had to do for the film look really cool. If I were a movie star, I’d do my own stunts too. It seems like it’s a lot of fun.
THE MUMMY: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR opens August 1st, 2008 and it brings our adventurer Rick to the Far East. There he unearths an ancient mummy of the dragon emperor.
Of all the things he can dig up, he chooses one who can do kung fu.
