I know this is not a TV blog but let me just say that my favorite series from the 80s was The A-Team, my favorite series from the 90s was The X-Files and my favorite series from this decade is Lost. I don’t know what the next decade will hold, what the next small screen phenomenon will be. Fringe is cool but at times it seems like a wannabee X-Files. I haven’t seen FlashForward, I heard good things about it but I also heard people say it’s trying to be the next Lost with all its mythology. So please understand if I try to talk about X-Files even if there’s nothing much on the horizon, at least not any time soon… Read the rest of this entry »

X-FILES 3 Or A Reboot In 2012?

Usually movies that fail at the box office don’t get to have another sequel. If anything, it would go straight to DVD or get a complete reboot, but I wouldn’t mind X-FILES 3. According to X-Files News, Hottie Gillian Anderson a.k.a Agent Dana Scully talked via Dnevnik.hr and she’s very open to the idea of reprising the role that’s practically been a part of her all these years.

“Of course I would accept to play in a new (third) “X-Files” movie”, she said for Dnevnik.hr during the chat with the media and the audience at the last press conference of this 15th edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival.
With this statement, the actress wanted to let people know that she’s not bothered with the fact that most of the people call her “Agent Scully” which she has played over a decade in a tv-show and the two feature movies. The third movie, according to her, is in early stages and should be filmed by 2012!”

Bloody-Disgusting did hear that there is talk of making either X-FILES 3 or a complete reboot. But this is all just a rumor for now until we hear confirmation.
I know many people didn’t agree but I thought the X-Files: I Want To Believe was a great sequel, I love how Scully was so upset that a sinner got to have visions that could help solve the case and she struggled whether or not she’d like to believe God may have worked through that man.
But then again, I was a huge fan of the series and have always fantasized about Gillian Anderson for years. Yes the movie was not about aliens but not all of the episodes from the series were about aliens, some of them were like stories that could’ve come from the Twilight Zone universe, weird cases that went unsolved

X-Files: I Want To Believe was made with a budget of $30 Million, it did poorly at domestic box office earning only $20 Million mostly because it opened the weekend after the release date of The Dark Knight
But Mulder and Scully were received better overseas, earning a total of $68 Million, which gives the studio enough motivation to not rule out the possibility of a third installment.
But having X-FILES 3 by 2012 would be too quick, if you ask me. Besides, that’s the same summer as the arrival of Marvel’s mega blockbuster movie THE AVENGERS, it would be tough to beat that. And if a reboot is their plan, I’m gonna go on temper tantrum if Duchovny and Anderson get replaced by some other couple and the only way they could get the next movie sold is if they’d bring the focus back on the alien conspiracy but with a whole new twist.
