Chris Rock continues his plan of ruining foreign production movies. This year, Rock’s unnecessary urbanized remake of Brit comedy DEATH AT A FUNERAL will hit theaters and Variety reported Rock has also optioned the English language remake rights to French comedy THE FIRST STAR (La premiere etoile). The difference is is they won’t have to turn the cast from white to black again because the characters of of the original version are already black, just the way Rock wants it… Read the rest of this entry »
GROWN UPS Banner
A banner for the upcoming Columbia Pictures comedy GROWN UPS (watch the trailer) showed up online featuring photos of the stars when they were kids. Look, Kevin James was hella skinny and Chris Rock apparently looked exactly the same all these years, was David Spade a girl? I’ve also included screenshot from the official website, an image which I think will be the basis for the poster, just for comparison purposes, to give you that before and after effect. And below that are 3 more stills, via comingsoon, from the movie that finally brings together these real life best friends. This could mean either a perfect combo or a potent mix for disaster. They did have a blast filming it though. View all images after the jump and click on ‘em to seriously enlarge… Read the rest of this entry »
DEATH AT A FUNERAL Remake Trailer Is Just An Urban Copy Of The Original
O brother.. this is what I was worried about.. the trailer for the Urban remake of my to funniest movie in 2007, DEATH AT A FUNERAL has been released by Screen Gems, via Yahoo, and it’s just like the original version but much worse because it actually spoils the hilarious parts of the movie, well, the urban version of the hilarious parts of the movie.
It’s weird how Chris Rock and the gang actually just recycled the same jokes, even little talented actor Peter Dinklage has to do his same exact gig again, but just add more booty, yelling, racial jokes and some “Damn!”
Seriously guys, before this remake hits theaters, I highly suggest you go watch the 2007 Frank-Oz directed Brit-comedy first, then maybe you’ll like it as much as I did, or at least enough to not wanna see this Americanized treatment at all. Watch both trailers after the jump so you can see the comparison… Read the rest of this entry »
GROWN UPS Teaser
In my opinion, this movie should’ve been called ‘Adam Sandler and his 3 friends whose movie careers somehow still exist only because Sandler’s movie career somehow still exists.’ Sony has released the teaser for GROWN UPS. A Happy Madison comedy about five best friends from high school who reunite 30 years later on a Fourth of July weekend starring Kevin James, Adam Sandler and Sandler’s 90’s SNL gang Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, David Spade, Tim Meadows. Feels good to know Sandler, doesn’t it?! You’ll always be on screen even when your time was actually already up and gone a long time ago. Co-starring Salma Hayek, Maya Rudolph, Maria Bello and the 4 year old kid sucking on Bello’s breasts.
Watch the teaser after the jump… Read the rest of this entry »
Who Wants To Be Chris Rock’s BLACK FRIEND? I do
I’m still pissed at Chris Rock’s involvement in remaking the hilarious Brit comedy Death At A Funeral and turned into something urban but he’s still one of my favorite comedians because he tells it like it is, he recently spoke the truth about Roman Polanski. I’m looking forward this weekend to watching Rock’s documentary Good Hair which will discuss Afro-American women hair business and now via comingsoon.net, Lionsgate has announced its next collaboration with Harpo Films on the project WILL YOU BE MY BLACK FRIEND? as Chris Rock’s starring vehicle.
The story is based on a magazine article of the same title, published in the magazine’s November 2008 edition, written by GQ senior correspondent Devin Friedman, the article is about Friedman’s unorthodox and admittedly self-conscious quest to make “black friends.”
Inspired by a true story, a white, married journalist living in Manhattan comes to the unnerving realization one night at a cocktail party that virtually his entire social circle is white. Indeed his entire existence has become steeped in a certain style of “whiteness”: a rarefied industry (publishing); a weekend house in the Catskills; yoga; ambient music; and seasonal gourmet cooking. With help of the internet, a “white guy” sets off on a humorous journey to make “black friends,” only to discover that regardless of race, the older you get, the harder it is to make friends.
Ha! This is rich! I betcha there’s going to be some heavy hilarious stereotypical humor ala Chris Rock’s usual jokes and I can’t wait.
Ya know, when I was younger, I too wish I had more black friends, unfortunately I grew up in a third world country Asia where black people are scarce so when I came to America where they were practically everywhere, I had to learn my way to be cool with them, observing their lingo and their handshake, listening to hip-hop and gospel and be careful in words I should and shouldn’t say in front of them. Needless to say, I still don’t have many black friends, but the few I have are movie fans like me so it’s all good.
fo’ shizzle my nizzle! Holla!
Chris Rock Preaches About Roman Polanski
It baffles me how some celebrities and filmmakers and studio heads in Hollywood are supporting Roman Polanski and demanding his release and basically wanting him to go on making movies as if the sexual crime against minor more than 30 years ago never happened. Thank God one of my favorite comedians Chris Rock says it like its on Jay Leno, there is no excuse for having sex with a 13 year old, man! It doesn’t matter if you’re an Oscar winner or if you’ve made great movies in the past! Check out the vibrant video above. Via slashfilm
GOOD HAIR Theatrical Trailer
I didn’t know this but taking care of African-American women hair is a 9 Billion dollar business, holy crap! Here’s the trailer for Chris Rock’s upcoming hilarious documentary GOOD HAIR where he examines the cost, both financial and sociological, of African-American hair culture. I think I’ll just need to watch this if I wanna date a black chick in the near future so I can remind myself of the difference between weave, relaxer, and perm and never to touch their hair cause they’ll get all judgment day on me.
Traveling from Atlanta to India to Harlem and everywhere in between, Rock tries to figure out how society determines exactly what is “good” hair.
GOOD HAIR opens limited October 9th, 2009
