We saw first images and then Magnolia took U.S. rights and now the trailer for ONDINE has hit the web, you can watch it using the media player below. ONDINE is the enchanting story of Syracuse (Farrell), a lonely fisherman who one day pulls a beautiful woman named Ondine (Bachleda) out of the sea in his nets. His young daughter Annie is convinced that she is a “selkie” —a creature from Irish folklore much like a mermaid. Syracuse has his doubts, but as Ondine brings some luck and joy to his otherwise downcast life, he starts to come around as well. ONDINE deftly blends romance and fantasy with the realism of modern life in an Irish seaside town… Read the rest of this entry »

VLAD Is Not About Vampires
Just last weekend it was announced that Summit wants to make another Vampire movie, the project is called VLAD, actor Charlie Hunnam wrote the script which was recently bought and Brad Pitt is producing with Dede Gardner via Plan B Entertainment. Historic Vlad III The Impaler, his name, Romanian: Vlad Ţepeş or Dracula inspired the name of the vampire in Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula. But here’s the thing, this movie VLAD is not going to feature, it’s not going to touch, it’s not going to be about vampires at all.. Read the rest of this entry »
CRAZY HEART Poster
The great Jeff Bridges have been nominated four times. That is an example of life unfair, right there. But no worries, Oscar voters love stories about musicians and since Bridges most likely won’t get nominated for movies like IRON MAN or TRON LEGACY or even the recent THE MEN WHO STARE AT GOATS, we can at least believe in the Oscar buzz surrounding his latest performance as musician Bad Blake in the upcoming drama CRAZY HEART from Fox Searchlight, written and directed by Scott Cooper and based on the novel by Thomas Cobb. The poster has arrived via LATimesBlog. Maybe Bridges could someday play musician/actor Kris Kristofferson cause he sure as hell looks like him too… Read the rest of this entry »
PARNASSUS UK Quad
THE IMAGINARIUM OF DOCTOR PARNASSUS may arrive here in the States on Christmas Day but it visits UK theaters on October 16th and Empireonline has the UK quad, the new banner featuring just about all the lead actors in the Terry Gilliam-directed fantasy adventure movie except Andrew Garfield as Anton. There’s one review quote there that specifies Johnny Depp’s performance, I find it odd that the the praise wasn’t intended for the late great Heath Ledger, how much screentime does Ledger get in this movie anyway before he was replaced by Colin Farrell, Jude Law, and apparently the “electrifying” Johnny Depp? Funny how Verne Troyer in this artwork is the smallest one out of the bunch.
“The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” is a fantastical morality tale, set in the present day. It tells the story of Dr Parnassus and his extraordinary ‘Imaginarium’, a traveling show where members of the audience get an irresistible opportunity to choose between light and joy or darkness and gloom. Blessed with the extraordinary gift of guiding the imaginations of others, Dr Parnassus is cursed with a dark secret. Long ago he made a bet with the devil, Mr Nick, in which he won immortality. Many centuries later, on meeting his one true love, Dr Parnassus made another deal with the devil, trading his immortality for youth, on condition that when his first-born reached its 16th birthday he or she would become the property of Mr Nick.
Valentina is now rapidly approaching this ‘coming of age’ milestone and Dr Parnassus is desperate to protect her from her impending fate. Mr Nick arrives to collect but, always keen to make a bet, renegotiates the wager. Now the winner of Valentina will be determined by whoever seduces the first five souls. Enlisting a series of wild, comical and compelling characters in his journey, Dr Parnassus promises his daughter’s hand in marriage to the man that helps him win. In this captivating, explosive and wonderfully imaginative race against time, Dr Parnassus must fight to save his daughter in a never-ending landscape of surreal obstacles – and undo the mistakes of his past once and for all.
THE IMAGINARIUM OF DOCTOR PARNASSUS opens limited December 25th, 2009
Parallel Pictures Invites Irish Stars For A SWIM And A VIRGIN
This may not be stationed in Hollywood but the following projects have a great group of foreign actors that have done quite well in Hollywood. According to Variety, Irish production company Parallel Pictures is gathering the fighting Irish talents for 2 projects. The first one is the adaptation AT SWIM-TWO-BIRDS based on the book by Irish author Flann O’Brien’s. It’s “the story of an Irish college student who, half to amuse himself and half to avoid work, writes an irreverent novel about the figures of Irish myth and legend in which characters come to life and riot against their author.”
This will mark the directorial debut of Irish actor Brendan Gleeson who will also be in the cast along with In Bruges co-star, Irish bad boy Colin Farrell, Batman Begins‘ Scarecrow Cillian Murphy and Usual Suspect’s Gabriel Byrne. It’s a $11 million project and Gleeson himself wrote the screenplay.
The next project is THE VIRGIN OF LAS VEGAS.. I didn’t know such a thing exists in that town… the movie will be produced by Alan Moloney and (drumroll please)…U2’s Bono, the Irish King.
Liam Neeson is set to star as an aging show band singer, prone to drink and living in Vegas who finds his life turned on its head following the arrival of a mysterious stranger.
Written by Barry Devlin, production costs $14 Million.
ONDINE First Images
While we’re still waiting to hear any type of confirmation if Colin Farrell would really replace Johnny Depp in Terry Gilliam’s QUIXOTE, we’ll take a look at these first images from Farrell’s new movie ONDINE, written and directed by Neil Jordan (Interview With The Vampire), via Firstshowing. It’s a small town lyrical modern fairy tale about an Irish fisherman who discovers a woman in his fishing net who he believes to be a mermaid which will be played by Polish beauty Alicja Bachleda who eerily looks like Kiera Knightley. This movie will make its debut at the Toronto Film Festival this fall.

Colin Farrell To Replace Johnny Depp In QUIXOTE?
It was previously announced that Johnny Depp won’t be returning to THE MAN WHO KILLED DON QUIXOTE which director Terry Gilliam is so passionately trying to resurrect and it’s understandable cause the multi million dollar actor got a gazillion projects to do that’ll keep him busy til the end of time. Gilliam said he wants to start shooting this spring and has been meeting with some actors this past weekend.
Via Contact music, according to Britain’s Daily Express, Gilliam might be looking into casting Collin Farrell as a possible replacement
That’s what the tabloid said..so we have yet to hear any solid confirmation about this.
Both Farrell and Depp were 2 of the actors (the other one was Jude Law) who replaced Heath Ledger after the untimely death as the character Tony in the upcoming The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (Check out the latest trailer)
