Kevin Williamson Says SCREAM 4 Is An Ensemble

Scream

As we all know, scribe Kevin Williamson is writing SCREAM 4 which is going to be the start of a new SCREAM Trilogy. The contract has him writing SCREAM 5 as well.
3 of the original stars David Arquette, Courtney Cox and Neve Campbell will all reprise their roles while Wes Craven is open to the possibility of returning to the franchise to direct this fourth installment but he hasn’t officially signed on yet. In a recent chat with MTV, Williamson revealed his plan for SCREAM 4... Read the rest of this entry »

Neve Campbell

Bob Weinstein has spoken and everybody tuned in as he shared what he had in store for me and you and me and the world wide web. Via Variety, he’s confirmed that Neve Campbell will reprise her role as Sidney Prescott in SCREAM 4 which is set to be the first of a new trilogy. She will be joining Courtney Cox and David Arquette who previously had signed on to return as well.
And guess what… Wes Craven is in talks to come back as the director too
This is like a big fat reunion that none of us wanted but it’s happening anyway.
Production is scheduled to start either in April or May of 2010

Next stop, SPY KIDS 4.. excuse me, who the hell ordered SPY KIDS 4? Cause I sure as hell did not! After watching Shorts, I couldn’t believe Robert Rodriguez kept making these unbearable children’s movies.
Rodriguez is writing SPY KIDS 4 which will be in 3D, he will direct and work on it with Disney. Production will start in March. If you have kids and you care about them, I suggest taking them to watch Pixar movies instead of any of Rodriguez’s poor excuses for family films.

And the rest are pretty much a recap of what we already know. Weinstein basically just reminds everyone that there are going to be sequels to HELLRAISER and SCANNERS in 3D. As some of you remember, there’s going to be remakes of SHORT CIRCUIT and AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON and CHILDREN OF THE CORN and then of course HALLOWEEN 3D
Let’s see… sequels and remakes…Come to think of it, maybe Bob Weinstein was better off not sharing any of these in the first place.

Arquette Cox

We know for a while now that David Arquette and his wife Courtney Cox were in talks to reprise their roles in SCREAM 4 but today the confirmation finally arrived via Eonline. Arquette said he hopes Wes Craven will return to direct too but there’s no certainty yet.
When asked about why he wants to do SCREAM again, this is what he said…

“I fell in love with my wife on Scream, so the opportunity to bring [Dewey] back to life and for my wife to play that really bitchy character again, it’s just going to be really fun,” “It’s just great.”

The first part of that statement was romantic, the rest is just typical Arquette
Williamson has been trying to get Neve Campbell to come back as well but he hasn’t been successful, Arquette also hopes Neve would say yes..
Frankly I don’t think she will, mainly because she’s busy doing… ha! my point exactly.

Arquette And Cox To SCREAM Again?

Almost a year ago, an info hit the web that TWC might restart the SCREAM Franchise by developing SCREAM 4. First thought that came to mind was ‘Why?!’ the second thought that came to mind was that this was going to be a continuation, a fourth installment to the franchise that started with Drew Barrymore’s classic horror telephone opening scene. But lo and behold! Just when we thought we’ve had about enough of reboots.. SCREAM is yet another victim in this endless vicious cycle.

According to Entertainment Weekly, writer/director Kevin Williamson has been working on a new SCREAM trilogy. Williamson wrote the first movie directed by Wes Craven.
SCREAM reboot doesn’t have a director yet but they’re planning to bring back some of the original characters. David Arquette and his wife Courtney Cox have been asked to return. No deals are locked in yet but let’s ask the question again,.. ‘Why?’
Why call it a reboot if you’re going to have the same actors all over again? Why not just write new characters with younger actors and present the movie in 3D like the recent My Bloody Valentine? Why on earth do we need another SCREAM movie?
Because everytime I see that mask now, all I can remember is the Wayans Brothers’ spoof Scary Movie and I’d laugh, the mask doesn’t have that frightening effect anymore.
Now that we’re almost finishing the first decade in this 21st century, we’re almost reaching 2010, the trend has shifted from remaking 80s flicks.. to remaking 90s flicks. So what’s next? Forrest Gump reboot? God help us all..
