Fox Has THE SHADOW Now. David Slade Might Direct

Posted by Rama On March - 4 - 2010

The Shadow

Real quick now, a couple of months ago, IESB reported that Sam Raimi’s new project might be THE SHADOW and the website even had read the draft by Siavash Farahanl whose approach to the story is similar to “The Punisher” and “Batman”.. It’s a hardcore R-rated script with “a man thrown into meat grinder and coming out as ground beef on the other side. Broken bones at every turn. Body parts strewn around a train station. Hookers servicing males”. Latinoreview today said that the project is no longer with Sony Pictures, it is now housed at Fox. The directing job might go to David Slade, the dude who brought us Hard Candy, 30 Days Of Night and the upcoming Twilight Saga: ECLIPSE but Raimi will still be involved as a producer.
Head over to WIKI to familiarize yourself with this character…Back in 1994, Universal brought the adaptation of THE SHADOW to the big screen starring Alec Baldwin

ECLIPSE Teaser Poster

Eclipse1

NEW MOON hasn’t even arrived and yet BloodyDisgusting has managed to get its hands on the teaser poster for the next Twilight Saga: ECLIPSE. This poster was spotted at the recent AFM ‘09 and you can see the entire image after this jump. Unlike the first two installments, more fans will be looking at ECLIPSE because it’s directed by David Slade who I think did a great job of scaring us with 30 Days Of Night, his vampires were 10 times bloodier and hardcore because they catered more to male audiences. So with his direction, we might just finally have a Twilight movie that’s worth watching… Read the rest of this entry »

Kirsten Prout Is Lucy In ELCIPSE

Posted by Rama On October - 18 - 2009

Kirsten Prout Eclipse

Real quick now, according to Eonline, blondie cutie Kirsten Prout has signed on to co-star in Twilight Saga: ECLIPSE, she’s set to play the vampire named Lucy. Prout was in the series Kyle XY which unfortunately got canceled.
I didn’t read the Stephenie Meyer book but Wiki says Lucy plays a role in Jasper Hale’s backstory. Lucy helped create a vampire army with Maria, played by Catalina Sandino Moreno, but she was later killed by her and Jasper after turning on them. Check out the first look photos

In ECLIPSE, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.

ECLIPSE opens June 30th, 2010

Eclipse1

Making some time for Twilight fans. Lion_lamb found first look photos of ECLIPSE, scanned from a magazine. It’s the third installment in the saga that has captivated tweens and fangirls worldwide. Head on OVER THERE to view more pics. Directed by David Slade (30 Days Of Night). This movie opens June 30th, 2010, so I take it we won’t have to see the cast anymore at Comic-Con ‘09.

30 DAYS OF NIGHT Sequel Gets Director

Posted by Rama On September - 3 - 2009

30daysofnight

I thought 30 Days Of Night was a rock n’ roll scare fest, an enjoyable vampire movie, Danny Huston was underrated as the villain Marlow, that face he made when he mocked the non-existence of God, with all the blood all over his face, that was some freaky sh*t. I’ve been hearing a sequel for a while but only recently that things are starting to take off.. with some slight changes.
According to Bloody Disgusting the sequel, titled 30 DAYS OF NIGHT: DARK DAYS will be directed by Ben Ketai mostly because the helmer of the first movie, David Slade is busy sucking the youth out of another Vampire movie with less violence and more cheesy romance, The Twilight Saga: ECLIPSE.
But Ketai knows what he’s doing because he’s written the web series 30 Days of Night: Blood Trails and 30 Days of Night: Dust to Dust.

30 DAYS OF NIGHT: DARK DAYS is a story from both Steve Niles, who came up with the original graphic novel and Ketai. The character Stella Oleson will be the lead character, she was played by Melissa George who stood by Josh Hartnett to the end…but George won’t reprise the role, in fact she will get recast. That seems harsh, I didn’t think she was all that bad..but maybe they’re looking for a hottie with more fight in her since in this sequel, Stella will join a group of vampire hunters in order to get revenge on Lilith, the vamp responsible for the attack on her Alaska town.
It’d be something if Kate Beckinsale get this gig, from Whiteout which is set in Antartica all the way to the top in Alaska.

ECLIPSE Starts Production This August

And faster than you can say Edward-Bella-Jacob, the filming for The Twilight Saga: ECLIPSE is scheduled to start filming on August 17th, 2009 all the way through October 31st in Vancouver, according to Production Weekly.
Summit Entertainment isn’t wasting any time and I hope it doesn’t backfire. NEW MON hasn’t even hit theaters yet and I thought Kristen Stewart was still busy with RUNAWAYS project and Robert Pattinson was busy with the drama REMEMBER ME.
As previously announced, ECLIPSE will be directed by David Slade (30 Days of Night) using a script once again by Mellissa Rosenberg.

My friend Eseta, who’s a hardcore fan of Twilight novels made a good point stating that the movies are too focused on the stars instead of their characters and the stories.

COLD SKIN Teaser Poster

Not too long ago, it was announced that David Slade who is the director of Twilight saga, ECLIPSE, will also helm the project adaptation COLD SKIN based on the best selling Spanish thriller novel by author Albert Sanchez Pinol. The screenplay is written by Jesus Olmo. Production won’t start until next year, March 2010 to be exact but already Shocktilyoudrop has the teaser poster for the movie. Wow, this is probably the fastest record. Click on the image to enlarge

Here is the official synopsis of the book..
“Shortly after World War I, a troubled man accepts a solitary assignment as a “weather official” on a tiny, remote island on the edges of the Antarctic. When he arrives, the predecessor he is meant to replace is missing and a deeply disturbed stranger is barricaded in a heavily fortified lighthouse. At first adversaries, the two find that their tenuous partnership may be the only way they survive the unspeakably horrific reptilian creatures that ravage the island at night, attacking the lighthouse in their organized effort to find warm-blooded food. Armed with a battery of ammunition and explosives, the weather official and his new ally must confront their increasingly murderous mentality, and, when the possibility of a kind of truce presents itself, decide what kind of island they will inhabit. Equal parts Stephen King, a phantasmagorical Robinson Crusoe, and Lord of the Flies, Cold Skin is literary horror that deals with the basist forms of human behavior imaginable, while exploring why we so vehemently fear the Other.”

Slade's SKIN Is Hella COLD

I’ve said before that I’m an avid reader but the novels I like are mostly political thriller or mystery conspiracy, something that would keep me to my seat and get that adrenaline pumping, a story that would make me lose my sleep because I want to know what the hell’s going to happen in the next page. I’ve never really gotten myself into reading suspense/horror novels mainly because I’d rather watch the adaptation on the big screen, it’s more fun that way but this particular title, I think is a must-read.

According to Variety, director David Slade, who recently got hired by Summit to helm ECLIPSE, has also been hired by Madrid and Paris-based Kanzaman to direct another adaptation titled COLD SKIN based on the best selling Spanish novel by author Albert Sanchez Pinol. The screenplay is written by Jesus Olmo.
No word yet on whether this movie would be English spoken or Foreign Language film. I think they should keep it Spanish like The Orphanage.
Producer Denise O’Dell thinks Slade is the right man for this job because Slade knows a thing or two about handling psychological horror (Hard Candy, 30 Days of Night)
I for one am intrigued by the synopsis of the book..
