From the studio that brought you High School Musical, High School Musical 2 and High School Musical 3: Senior Year, comes a new high school non-musical comedy that will take you back.. PROM. Marvel/Disney Merger Is Now Official!
Real quick now, quite possibly the biggest movie info that shook 2009 was when Disney planned to buy Marvel for about $4 billion, making Mouse House the owner of over 5000 Marvel’s characters. I hope none of those superheroes and villains would get literally kicked in the nuts and face by Mickey Mouse just like when he beat up one of the Jonas Brothers in South Park. Via comingsoon, it was announced yesterday that Marvel stockholders have approved the adoption of the Agreement and Plan of Merger entered into by Marvel and The Walt Disney Company, which provides for a merger in which Marvel will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Disney.. RAPUNZEL New Image
Still in New York but I figured I’d steal a few minutes to make some updates so you guys can be excited about some upcoming movies. A new image of Disney’s RAPUNZEL has hit the web, DisneyPixar.fr, in addition to the previous one we saw back in the summer. Starring the voices of voices of Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi and Donna Murphy. Once again, it’s another shot of the dashing bandit being tied down to a chair by Rapunzel’s long blonde hair which quite frankly, is quite fascinating. That long hair of hers would do a lot of good if she worked as a firefighter.

No WEDDING BANNED For Disney
Last month, Disney dropped McG’s 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA: CAPTAIN NEMO indefinitely, putting the project on a complete stop. The mouse house has taken itself another a victim. Hollywood Reporter says new Walt Disney chief Rich Ross has spoken and decided to cancel WEDDING BANNED, a comedy project with Robin Williams, Anna Faris, and Diane Keaton attached to star. It’s a shame actually because those are three talented individuals with excellent comedic timing… Read the rest of this entry »
RACHEL AND THE DRAGON Features Disney’s First Jewish-American Princess
Disney had a Native American princess, an Asian princess, and The Princess And The Frog will be the first time that the mouse house has an African American princess. LandlineTV makes fun of this achievement by coming up with its own version. Disney’s first Jewish American Princess in a faux movie RACHEL AND THE DRAGON. Check out the hilarious vibrant video below after the jump… Read the rest of this entry »
Disney Has FALLEN
Disney has bought the screen rights to a book but it’s not about princess or enchantment or big castles, judging from the plot, I say this material is quite gloomy for Disney. The book is FALLEN (not the Denzel movie) by author Lauren Kate, the movie deal includes the four-novel series. According to Hollywood Reporter, Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray will produce this project with young adult target audience through their Mayhem Productions.
Here’s the official synopsis of the book… Read the rest of this entry »
FRANKENWEENIE Characters Breakdown
As announced and confirmed a few months ago, Tim Burton’s next job is to resurrect his old short film FRANKENWEENIE, and turn it into a feature. So Dark Shadows is back on the shelf for now. FRANKENWEENIE was his live action short film back in 1984 starring Shelley Duvall and Daniel Stern. And Burton wants to do this new take in stop-motion way plus 3D. Scribe John August (Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) is in charge of the script for the movie about a mad scientist kid who brings his dog back to life after it is killed by a car. Production date and location haven’t been decided yet but Disney has started casting call. BloodyDisgusting has the characters breakdown below being sent out to NY actors, apparently the studio is looking mostly for children age 8-11 years old. Just like the original, the movie will also be shot in black and white… Read the rest of this entry »
TRON LEGACY Guys To Remake THE BLACK HOLE
The guys who’s bringing us TRON LEGACY (check out the teaser), director Joseph Kosinski and producer Sean Bailey have gone back to Disney’s old archive to find which other title from the past that they think could be rejuvenated for today’s audience. And they stumble upon an old one titled THE BLACK HOLE from 1979. It was made with a budget of $26 Million, back then that was considered hella costly, and it was Disney’s first PG rated movie… Read the rest of this entry »
About That PIRATES 4 Title…
When the title for the fourth installment of Pirates of the Caribbean was announced at D23 Expo, many speculated that ON STRANGER TIDES is based the book by author Tim Powers, that features the legendary Blackbeard, here’s the official synopsis of the book…
“Puppeteer John Chandagnac, who was sailing to Jamaica to get revenge on the uncle who had stolen his father’s inheritance, has no choice but to join the buccaneers who have taken him prisoner–and soon, known now as the pirate Jack Shandy, he finds himself learning to survive in a treacherous new world of cutlass-fights, sea-battles, and voodoo magic on sun-blinded tropical islands. The legendary Blackbeard is assembling a ruthless navy of pirates living and undead to voyage to the fabled Fountain of Youth, and Jack Shandy must use magic, swordsmanship, and even his puppeteer skills to free himself and the girl he has fallen in love with from Blackbeard’s deadly supernatural domination.”
LA TIMES had a chat with Tim Powers and found out that Disney did secretly option the book a while ago but Powers made it clear that his book is different from Jack Sparrow’s story, although he can see how the two might collide. He’s actually looking forward to how it will play out on the big screen
“I was still — as far as I understood — not free to talk about it,”
“Then about a week ago my agent wrote and said, ‘You’re now able to say that in fact Disney did option the book.’ That happened a while ago, it’ll be three years in April.”
“Yes, I’m thrilled,”
“I think it’s great.”
“I’ve watched all the movies several times, of course, and I think the clear thing they would use is the trip to the Fountain of Youth,”
“My main character doesn’t overlap with Jack Sparrow at all [in personality or circumstance]; they’re totally different characters. I suppose they might overlap the Geoffrey Rush character Barbossa and Blackbeard. The only thing I feel certain they will hold on to is the Fountain of Youth since they telegraphed that at the end of the last movie.”
The movie’s co-screenwriter Terry Rossio told Empire that PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES will be inspired by Tim Powers‘ book, so it’s not necessary going to be a complete adaptation of the book.
“We wanted to do a story about Blackbeard and the Fountain of Youth, and Tim Powers wrote a book about Blackbeard and the Fountain of Youth… it just turns out that to do that story you would need that book. It’s a brilliant and Tim Powers is an amazing writer – and it’s a great title. It allows us to draw material from that universe and his expertise.”
“I don’t know if its proper to say it’s based on it but there are enough common elements to think that the book had to be optioned to us to reasonably proceed along that story line.”
PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES will open in summer 2011,
If FAMILY GUY Was Made By Disney
The latest episode of FAMILY GUY “Road To The Multiverse” made fun of Disney by altering Stewie, Brian, and the rest of The Griffin family into what they’d be if they were animated by the mouse house. I gotta say, Lois looks even hotter as a Disney character. O and it also pokes on the old, old rumor about Walt Disney hating Jews. Check out the vibrant video above which continues to also make fun of Robot Chicken.
