ANT-MAN Got A Domain

ant-man

Disney that bought Marvel last year bought a bunch of domain names recently and one of them stands out. Via Stitchkingdom and slashfilm, it’s none other than ANT-MAN-THEMOVIE.COM. Does this confirm what Stan Lee tweeted not too long ago about the live action movie actually happening with Edgar Wright as the director? Disney probably just bought the domain just in case the movie does get made they won’t have to worry then, because a site is up and ready for further work. I remember Disney also bought a website domain for MONSTERS INC. 2 last year but it’s not like the sequel is already in development.
So ANT-MAN The Movie.. seriously.. I still could care less about this particular superhero.

Edgar Wright Ant Man

How much do you believe in Stan Lee? He is after all one of the godfather of comics and superheroes, so his word is more than often reliable right? He won’t be pulling our leg for no reason. The project ANT-MAN has had the name Edgar Wright (Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz) attached as the filmmaker for a while now and today, Stan Lee tweeted,.. ya even at his age he finds the time to keep up with today’s youthful social networking trend, he said that ANT-MAN and more Marvel movies are coming to our theaters… Read the rest of this entry »

Scott Pilgrim

Edgar Wright’s new movie, SCOTT PILGRIM Vs. THE WORLD has yet to have a U.S. theatrical release date but The Playlist received info that the adaptation based on Bryan Lee O’Malley’s graphic novel will find its way to U.K. theaters on August 27th, 2010. By the way, the image above is slashfilm’s enhancement of the first look image we saw not too long ago.
The website went on to speculate that just like the way it happened with Inglourious Basterds, more than likely the U.S. release date for SCOTT PILGRIM Vs. THE WORLD might be one week earlier, which is August 20th
The release date of SCOTT PILGRIM in France is August 18th, and as you know, just like IRON MAN and AVATAR, the French always get to watch some movies a couple of days earlier than we do here in the states, so.. August 20th sounds just about right.. but there’s no confirmation or official announcement yet. After the jump, check out SCOTT PILGRIM’s official synopsis… Read the rest of this entry »

SCOTT PILGRIM’s Cast Photo

Too bad it’s in an inconvenient angle but director Edgar Wright , via his blog, has posted an image of the cast of SCOTT PILGRIM Vs. THE WORLD. It’s a framed photo that may or may not have been for some kind of licensing expo promotional purposes.
Based on the Oni Press graphic novel, written by Bryan Lee O’Malley. Mary Elizabeth Winstead will play the dream woman of a young slacker (Michael Cera). But the only way he can win her heart is by battling and defeating her seven evil ex-boyfriends

Edgar Wright, Jason Reitman Scott Pilgrim

My God if I didn’t know any better I thought Jason Reitman (Juno) and Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz) could be brothers. Maybe it’s those damn beards and long hair. The two directors are in fact best friends and recently, Reitman was privileged enough to witness 30 minutes of Wright’s upcoming adaptation SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD and guess what.. Reitman loved it! He even tweeted about how euphoric he was over the footage he’s seen of the movie… Read the rest of this entry »

Edgar Wright Is Exhausted, Working On SCOTT PILGRIM

Scott Pilgrim

Director Edgar Wright posted the latest photo above via his blog. Look at him, he’s the one lying on the floor. Editing a movie in the cutting room can be a grueling, exhausting process, I got mad respects for those who get paid the big bucks to sit there and watch hundreds of shots for hours.
If you notice closely on those little monitors.. that may be the title logo for SCOTT PILGRIM Vs. THE WORLD. I hope we get to see a better hi-res version of the logo next time. Not too shabby though, it would look good on T-Shirts.

Based on the comic book by Bryan Lee O’Malley, the story is about Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) who must defeat his new girlfriend’s, Ramona (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) seven evil ex-boyfriends in order to win her heart.

Edgar Wright Says No ANT-MAN For Pixar

Ant-Man

When Disney bought Marvel, John Lasseter expressed his excitement and was looking forward to a collaboration between Pixar and Marvel somehow and I thought it’d be kinda cool if Pixar could do ANT-MAN movie since the man who was supposed to work on it, director Edgar Wright, has been putting it in the back burner, understandably so since Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World did take up much of his time. Lo and behold, Entertainment Weekly decided to insert a statement saying that Pixar is indeed eyeing an ANT-MAN movie and the world thought it would be then be CG animated instead of live action which was what Wright had in mind
Devin of CHUD smelled something off about all this so he e-mailed Wright who then replied by denying Pixar’s involvement with ANT-MAN and that he’s still determined to tackle the project eventually..

“The news that Pixar is involved is not wholly accurate and a little premature to comment on. I love Pixar’s work more than anyone and indeed would love to collaborate with them.
I’m not sure though that they would want to do a ’shrinking’ film as a Pixar animation – since Toy Story and A Bug’s Life already cover this territory to some extent. Am guessing that someone just speculated on the ‘bug’ angle and tried to put two and two together.
My spin on Ant Man is very different than a straight superhero origin – and very much live action.
At some point in this century, I intend to stop talking about it and make the damn thing.
I am still attached to Ant Man and indeed am still working on a second draft with Joe Cornish. That had to take a back seat while I worked on Scott Pilgrim, but am keen to get back into it once I get into post.”

So now we know but where does take us? Still nowhere cause it’s not like ANT-MAN already started production or anything.
And if THE AVENGERS is supposed to open in 2012 as scheduled, the movie that gathers all of Marvel superheroes in one ultimate giant summer blockbuster, does this mean we could expect ANT-MAN to arrive prior to that? Wright better write fast then.

Pixar Wants To Make ANT-MAN?

When Disney shocked the world by acquiring Marvel and now owning more than its 5000 characters, Pixar’s John Lassater expressed his eagerness for his great animation studio to eventually collaborate with Marvel thanks to this $4 billion deal and I mentioned that maybe Pixar should make ANT-MAN movie since the man who’s been attached to that project for the longest time, Edgar Wright hasn’t made this into a reality. Make no mistake, I still think ANT-MAN is one of the silliest lookin’ Marvel superheroes ever and I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing that costume and those antennas for Halloween but plans of bringing him to the big screen are old news and yet the poor guy never gets an actual fighting chance. Meanwhile we had Nic Cage playing Ghost Rider, WTF!
Bleedingcool saw a single statement in the recent Entertainment Weekly that says this..

“Pixar is said to already be eyeballing an Ant-Man movie.”

That’s it, that’s all it says, no details, no names attached, no time table as to when this might happen,.. it’s just Pixar showing interest in ANT-MAN.
I still have my worries, now that Disney owns Marvel, all of our beloved superheroes and their colorful personalities like Wolverine’s cigar habit or Tony Stark’s sexcapades.might be toned down to cater to Disney/Pixar’s audience. No more fun

SCOTT PILGRIM Behind-The-Scene Photo

Scott Pilgrim

Director Edgar Wright’s blog has posted another photo from his upcoming adaptation, SCOTT PILGRIM Vs. THE WORLD, which didn’t make an appearance at Comic-Con ‘09 sadly. I’m curious to see how this blue screen scene would play out in the movie.
Based on the Oni Press graphic novel, written by Bryan Lee O’Malley. Mary Elizabeth Winstead will play the dream woman of a young slacker (Michael Cera). But the only way he can win her heart is by battling and defeating her seven evil ex-boyfriends.
After watching the so-so Paper Heart and the very lame Year One, I began to wonder…can Michael Cera play any other character besides Michael Cera?

SCOTT PILGRIM Vs. PAUL

Posted by Rama On July - 21 - 2009

The new age of Video blog has arrived! Two separate blogs can now connect with just one stinkin’ Frisbee. Director Edgar Wright of SCOTT PILGRIM Vs. THE WORLD will show you how that works as he tries to send his greetings to his Hot Fuzz stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost who are currently filming PAUL… O and special appearance by angry director Greg Motolla (Superbad)
