The long wait is finally over! Marvel has announced, via Production weekly, that the principal photography for THOR live action movie will start in mid-January 2010 in Los Angeles and the scheduled four-month shoot will move to Santa Fe, NM from March through April. Who knows how long the post-production will last after that and if director Kenneth Branagh will have some awesome footage to show the fans at Comic-Con 2010 but I’m hoping that would be the case. The ball is rolling, next year we’ll have IRON MAN 2, the next year after that are SPIDER-MAN 4 and THOR and THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA and the year after that is the ultimate gathering of Marvel superheroes, THE AVENGERS. The live action THOR movie opens May 20th, 2011 with Chris Hemsworth as the God of thunder with the mighty hammer, Tom Hiddleston as the villain Loki, Jaimie Alexander as Sif and Natalie Portman as Nurse Jane. But before they start production, director Kenneth Branagh is still looking for anyone worthy to play the following roles. Here’s the casting call via SpoilerTV. Do you have what it takes?

(20) Is a college student. Aloof, jaded beyond her years, she thought her internship with scientist Kate Spelling would be an easy 6 college credits. However, she’s been stuck for months in this small New Mexico town and relegated to a wide range of unglamorous activities. Kate has been particularly hard on Marcy, making it her personal project to see that Marcy lives up to her potential. Marcy deals with her situation both by using subtle irony and by being an overt wiseass.

A fearless warrior race, where size, strength and ferocity define a member’s rank in both the social and military hierarchy. Warriors born in this society face the harshest ecological conditions imaginable and thrive in environments where lesser creatures, including humans, quickly perishes. Theirs is a world created to cull weakness from the universe to ensure their supreme sovereignty spreads across the stars. MUST BE 6′2 OR TALLER, NO BODYBUILDER TYPES. SAG ROLE BUT NO LINES. THOR movie has found it Sif. According to Hollywood Reporter, Jaimie Alexander who starred in the canceled series Kyle XY, will play Sif in the Marvel big screen version directed by Kenneth Branagh, already starring Chris Hemsworth as the hero with the mighty hammer and Tom Hiddleston as the villain Loki and Natalie Portman as THOR’s mortal love interest Nurse Jane.

Sif is a tough female Asgardian warrior who grew up with THOR. So there’s a love triangle story here that will be explored a bit because according to Marvel, the god of thunder is in love with Nurse Jane but then is also passionate about Sif. But sadly Sif likes the world of gods better and THOR, on the other hand, finds home in earth. We’ll see if the movies does its own version.

Alexander isn’t the only one that recently joined the cast, veteran actor Colm Feore (TV’s 24) is also in but his role is currently kept secret. Word has it the studio isn’t even sending him the script, though he would most likely play a villain.

This epic adventure spans the Marvel Universe; from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth

Production is set to start in 2010.
