Jason Segel Ed Helms

A couple of months ago, movieweb scored an exlusive from the filmmakers behind Bagheads, Mark and Jay Duplass that they were working on a project titled JEFF WHO LIVES AT HOME, it’s a stoner comedy that Jason Reitman (Up In The Air) is producing. Hollywood Reporter today has said that Jason Segel (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) and Ed Helms (The Hangover) will be the lead stars.
JEFF WHO LIVES AT HOME is being set up at Paramount. The Duplass Bros. are writing and directing, the story is “a day in the life of two brothers, one a loser (Segel) who lives at home and the other (Helms) more together but overbearing.”
Judy Greer (Love Happens) is in talks to play Helms’ wife and the role of those brothers’ mother is being cast.
Production starts next month in Louisiana.

Geoffrey Fletcher

Hands down, the biggest surprise at the Oscars last Sunday was Geoffrey Fletcher’s win for Best Adapted Screenplay. Everybody was expecting Jason Reitman and Sheldon Turner to snatch that one for Up In The Air. Fletcher’s win practically came out of nowhere, but… Read the rest of this entry »

GHOSTBUSTERS 3 In 3D

Ghostbusters

Now that Ivan Reitman IS going to be directing GHOSTBUSTERS 3, I’m sure he’s feeling the pressure to also adapt to all this 3D frenzy, you got AVATAR to blame for that. But it’s a known fact that Ivan’s son, director Jason Reitman (UP IN THE AIR) hates 3D… Read the rest of this entry »

LA Times Envelope

I love roundtable talk videos cause you get to sorta enter the minds of the people behind current big movies, especially movies that have been receiving award buzz. L.A. Time Envelope’s moderator John Horn had a chat with James Cameron (AVATAR), Jason Reitman (UP IN THE AIR), Quentin Tarantino (INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS), and Kathryn Bigelow (THE HURT LOCKER) and discussed the scenes they had to cut, the moment they became directors, the struggle of bringing the stories to the big screen, the state of filmmaking and more. There might be more videos to come all this week, but check out these first 3, after this jump… Read the rest of this entry »

UP IN THE AIR Is NBR’s Best Film Of 2009

I’m finally gonna see UP IN THE AIR this weekend, I can’t wait to check out what the buzz is all about. All this time, I’ve been holding back my excitement because the footage, clips, posters were just ok, to say the very least. I even think the plot is going to be generic and predictable. But we are now in fall season, meaning that not only are we going to be encountering more and more Oscar worthy movies in theaters but we’re also going to be hearing more and more of people’s selections on what they think the best movies of the year are, the best actors and on and on. National Board of Review has come up with their list and named UP IN THE AIR as Best Film Of The Year.
I’m also certain now that Jason Reitman’s new movie is going to be one of the 10 nominations for the highest category at the upcoming Oscars. They also named Carey Mulligan as Best Actress for An Education but then split the Best Actor recognition to both Morgan Freeman for Invictus and George Clooney for Up In The Air. Their list is quite fair if you ask me, check out more after this jump… Read the rest of this entry »

Brand New UP IN THE AIR Trailer

Up In The Air

Here’s the new trailer for UP IN THE AIR with quotes from the critics praising the movie, specifically director Jason Reitman and George Clooney’s performance. It’s almost guaranteed that this adaptation will be one of the 10 nominees for Best Picture but I’m not gung-ho about it just yet until I judge the movie for myself. This new trailer features Danny McBride (Land Of The Lost). Watch the trailer after the jump… Read the rest of this entry »

Edgar Wright, Jason Reitman Scott Pilgrim

My God if I didn’t know any better I thought Jason Reitman (Juno) and Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz) could be brothers. Maybe it’s those damn beards and long hair. The two directors are in fact best friends and recently, Reitman was privileged enough to witness 30 minutes of Wright’s upcoming adaptation SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD and guess what.. Reitman loved it! He even tweeted about how euphoric he was over the footage he’s seen of the movie… Read the rest of this entry »

UP IN THE AIR 2nd Trailer

Up In The Air

I’ve been hearing great reviews of this movie but I can’t help but think that this could be somewhat generic, a man obsessed with something, suddenly finds somebody who shares the same passion, something happens that forces him to take on an apprentice who eventually becomes the voice of reason and then a rude awakening, and he gets to re-evaluate himself and his decisions. But then again, I have yet to read the Walter Kim novel that this movie’s based on and now I have til December to read it.
As a frequent flyer myself, this is something I could relate to, I can’t wait to see what other clever tricks George Clooney’s character is going to teach us about traveling smart. Paramount Pictures has released the 2nd trailer for UP IN THE AIR, via Apple, which gives you a clearer picture of what’s going on but it still ends with parts of that enlightening speech from the previous trailer, moving is living.

From Jason Reitman, the Oscar® nominated director of “Juno,” comes a comedy called “Up in the Air” starring Oscar® winner George Clooney as Ryan Bingham, a corporate hatchet man who loves his life on the road but is forced to fight for his job when his company downsizes its travel budget. He is required to spend more time at home just as he is on the cusp of a goal he’s worked toward for years: reaching five million frequent flyer miles and just after he’s met the frequent-traveler woman of his dreams.

UP IN THE AIR Clip

Some people were lucky enough to have been at Telluride Film Festival ‘09 and screened UP IN THE AIR, the latest movie by director Jason Reitman starring George Clooney and Vera Farmiga. You can google the reviews everywhere now, it’s got Oscar buzz all over it but I think I’ll be the judge of that. George Clooney is a fantastic actor but his performance in Michael Clayton didn’t impress me so I don’t know if I wanna bet on him getting nominated for this adaptation
In this clip, via Apple, Clooney and Farmiga are competing on who has the most awesome travel perks, the scene ends with an innuendo.
