Whoa! Has this month been insane or what?! Christopher Nolan supposedly Godfathering the next SUPERMAN Movie titled THE MAN OF STEEL. David Goyer and Jonathan Nolan working on BATMAN 3 script. And then Goyer got hired to write THE MAN OF STEEL and now IESB has heard it over the grapevine that Chris’s involvement in mentoring the project is because there’s secret plan to have Jonathan make his directorial debut with THE MAN OF STEEL… Read the rest of this entry »
Jonathan Nolan To Direct MAN OF STEEL? Christopher Nolan To Direct JUSTICE LEAGUE?
COWBOYS & ALIENS Opens July 29th, 2011
It fascinates that in the movie world, there’s no such thing as a weekend rest, things could come up just like that, whether it’s casting or any type of announcement. Universal which earlier told the world about BATTLESHIP being released in Memorial Weekend 2012 has also announced, via The Wrap, that the graphic novel adaptation COWBOYS & ALIENS starring Daniel Craig and Olivia Wilde, directed by Jon Favreau, will be released on July 29th, 2011.. Daniel Craig ‘In Negotiations’ For COWBOYS VS. ALIENS
It’s a shame that Robert Downey Jr. exited COWBOYS & ALIENS, he would’ve been awesome in the role of cowboy Zeke Jackson who starts as alliance with the Indians, as they join forces to battle Aliens. But director Jon Favreau is still attached and they’re looking for a new lead. Collider has heard that they might turn to James Bond… Read the rest of this entry »
COWBOYS & ALIENS Starts Filming In July. The Movie Might Be In 3D
TheDailyBeast had an interesting observation article on the 3D trend that’s been insanely taking over cinema and changing the way we watch movies. AVATAR is obviously a success story, sadly you can’t say the same for Robert Zemeckis‘ A Christmas Carol though. Ridley Scott’s intention of converting ROBIN HOOD into 3D might be a bit considered too late by Universal, of course there’s also Spielberg’s TINTIN which is taking a long post-production process. But wait, the article also mentioned that COWBOYS & ALIENS will start shooting in July, implying that it might also get a 3D treatment… Read the rest of this entry »
When Comedy Turns Into Drama
HEADS UP! This article may contain SPOILER!
2009 was not a good year for comedy fans. Sure we had I Love You Man, Zombieland and The Hangover to make us laugh, actually I believe that they’re going to go down as cult hits or instant classic. But then there were Dance Flick, Land Of The Lost, Year One, Jennifer’s Body, Night At The Museum 2, Bruno, I Love You Beth Cooper, The Ugly Truth, The Goods, The Men Who Stare At Goats, Old Dogs and Gentlemen Broncos. One disappointment after another, somehow something got lost in the jokes.
But what I notice happening more this year compared to the previous is that we had more comedy that suddenly switches gear to drama. I’m not talking about dramedies like Little Miss Sunshine and Juno. I’m talking about comedy movies that sell themselves as a laugh fest but they surprised us by how dramatic they could be as the plot progressed. Sometimes it works and other times it doesn’t… Read the rest of this entry »

IRON MAN 2 Trailer Attached To SHERLOCK HOLMES?
This Christmas, we might get more than one present, the one underneath the tree and the trailer for IRON MAN 2 which according to Favreau’s recent retweeting, it might arrive with SHERLOCK HOLMES which of course stars Tony Stark, Robert Downey Jr., as the famous fictional detective.
Some say IRON MAN 2 trailer may be attached to AVATAR instead which opens the weekend before, which kinda makes sense because James Cameron’s 3D epic movie is nothing short of.. well, epic, and all eyes are going to see it so it’d be wise to put IRON MAN 2 trailer as part of the previews.
But yeah, for now, expect the trailer attached to SHERLOCK HOLMES on Christmas Day! Ho, Ho, hot rod red!
No AVENGERS For Favreau
Who’s going to direct THE AVENGERS? For a while, the name Jon Favreau has been favored as the top candidate, the man who will get the honor. After the success of IRON MAN, fans had no concern about Favreau’s possible involvement. But alas, it remains a rumor and nothing more because the director of the upcoming IRON MAN 2 talked to MTV and openly said that he does not want to helm THE AVENGERS..
“They’ll have to [find a different director], because I’m not going to be available,”
“It’s something I’m being the executive producer on, so I’ll definitely have input and a say.”
“It’s going to be hard, because I was so involved in creating the world of Iron Man and Iron Man is very much a tech-based hero, and then with ‘Avengers’ you’re going to be introducing some supernatural aspects because of Thor,”
“How you mix the two of those works very well in the comic books, but it’s going to take a lot of thoughtfulness to make that all work and not blow the reality that we’ve created.”
He’s got a point though, as cool as it is to see all those characters together in one ultimate Marvel awesomeness, there’s a chance it might fail because something gets lost or messed up in the equation or the formula. It would take a crazy script and crazy director. It’s a hard job with a hard pressure.
If Favreau can’t do it, then who can?
Plus forcing all these worlds to collide means focusing too much on a few and neglecting the others.
Rama’s SCREEN reader Frankie made a good point about X-Men 3 when it brought in so many mutants but most of them only got a few seconds of cameos, which stinks, because each of those characters is actually more intriguing than what the movie gave them credit for.
Who do you think has what it takes to direct THE AVENGERS?

Jon Favreau takes him on a tour and explains the new stuff on the set and then talks about the development of the story and the character for this sequel, the director says that second installment for Superhero movies usually work, they’re usually better than the first but the third might run the risk of repeating the same thing again. While Robert Downey Jr. talks about how his martial art training for SHERLOCK HOLMES has helped him with IRON MAN 2. ‘I’d be surprised if you weren’t surprised’.
